It needs saying loud and clear. Don't let anybody fool you. Ignore the media. They know not what they say. Ignore your "workmates", a bigger gang of clueless bitters/Mancs/Londonw*****s you couldn't wish to meet. Ignore the voice in your head which says "Maybe we shouldn't get carried away. Maybe we should take each game as it comes." What the f*** is that voice in your head doing trying to dampen down the optimism that you are right to hold. This is football, not real life and in football right now, you know, I know you know, that it's on.

You began to suspect it maybe on when we crusied past Bolton. You just thought, the way we're playing, something could be on here. Then Arsenal happened. And deep down you knew it was on when we got beat 6-3. You got to thinking. This season wouldn't be this weird without there being some sort of payoff. Listen to the idiots denounce Rafa. Denounce rotation. Dismiss us against Barca and domestically. And there, deep in your bones you thought, it's on this. The Paul Mersons of the world simply don't get away with this s***. It has to be on.

Saturday, it's fair to say, the captain knew it was on. The best right back in the country knows it's on too. Dirk knows it's on. Look at him. Blonde locks bounding about as he chases every scrap, every loose ball. That's why it's on. Chasing every avenue down means it's on. Hard work means it's on and while it is on, the way it goes off is if that graft stops. That graft isn't going to stop though. Chelsea knew it was on too. It frightened them. They looked at each other and while it wasn't as momentous as, as raucous as Luis Garcia's night, that fateful night, it was clear for whom it was on.

And then today. Relaxed. What more can we do? We needed Arsenal just as Arsenal need us. Like the chasing pack of a marathon these two noble runners will push each other towards the leading group. Thierry Henry last minute. United looking tired and you looked at the screen and you looked at each other and you couldn't contain it because, well, it's on isn't it? Arsenal may well think it's on as well and they may well be right. Don't dismiss them. But relax. Know that because Arsenal need us and we need Arsenal them thinking it's on can only be a good thing. The momentum's with us. It's on.

Take heart and sleep well. Your last thought before you go to bed should be "we have a league to win". Your first thought in the morning as your spring out of bed is that, well, it's on.

good read that Neil, mate. if we can get to the Manc game maybe 9 points behind them and beat them, then its on BIG TIME!

Eight or nine. Eight or nine means we'll really worry them. And then we'll see what on really is!

Very enjoyable post even if I read the title and thought I was missing something on telly.

It'll take something phenomenal to catch not just 1 but two teams which are probably better than us. I can't see it happening but let's see.

All that almost requires is they draw one and we win. If they lose one and we win than it is 8.

You wait until Kev sees this :D

is Kev back in love with Rafa??

what we need is some of the other PL teams to actually put up a fight in games against the Mancs and Chavs. I am sick of seeing teams cave in and give up when they play the Mancs. I do not think Chelski will be able to sustain much of a challenge if their run of injuries continues.

Thank god we didn't do that at Old Trafford.

I am not getting excited just yet. It is however possible to get back in it at this stage, which I wouldn't have thought two weeks ago.

All it takes is two bad weeks for manU and we'll biting their tail. As I said elsewhere, it would be really interesting if they lost a key player like Scholes or Ronaldo for a month or two.

they also have Chelsea, Us, Spurs, Everton and City away from home.

its gonna be a big ask, but a few injuries and a few defeats and you never know, they'll start looking over their shoulder and maybe start to panic

i don't think its on yet to be honest. if they (utd AND chelsea) lose a few more and we win them all in between...maybe then you can start thinking about it. they need to lose 4 games and for us to win them all in that time.

we're going to be less knackered than them between now and the end of the season too. fatigue will play a part. sissoko, kewell, zenden all coming back will be big plus points.

iT's going to be interesting to see how Chelsea and Man Utd react after this weekend. Still a big ask though but after Instanbul, anything is possible. Let's not forget Arsenal though.

Too little too late.

We need the Mancs to lose 5 more games.

Last season the Mancs only lost 5 in total.

The season before they only lost 5 games.

This season they've only lost 3.

Two things have to happen, we need to win all our remainding games and the Manc have to lose 5 in 14.

It ain't happening - sorry.

We beat them, Chelsea beat them, that gaps only 5, they draw against spurs and portsmouth and the gaps all but gone. Not that unrealistic. Not that I think it'll happen mind.

yeah but while theyre a good side soing well, they arent anything special.

If they keep on winning theyre in line to break the points record, and I just dont think theyre that good.

Bear in mind theyre still in the Champions league and FA Cup as well
