Got to say the Kop was impressive today, maybe the early goal(s) got us in the mood I don't know.

 

But after seeing some pictures of today's game the Kop does look a lot better with all the flags at the front etc.

 

If the RTK campaign in the cause of this, then keep it going

Was going to say something along the same lines, next home game is Everton after that Sheffield United I think, that might be a bigger test. looking on from Anny Road would say Scouser Tommy loudest I've heard for a while, pretty good all round. Some nice invention coming out as well.

Yeah, it was a fantastic atmosphere today which is good leading into Everton in a few weeks. There was a class rendition of FOAR too.

 

I didn't even hear anything at all from the Chelsea fans today, absolutely nothing. What a suprise.

The problem has been with it though that the Justice campaign has become entwined with it, and that's not right.

 

A Soccer AM chant telling everyone to stand up for the 96 is not dignified. It dilutes the impact of targetted events and will give people more ammunition to have a go at us. The Kop was never about campaigning, it was about getting behind the team.

 

When the Soccer AM chant starts I cringe. And I won't stand up; there's a time and a place.

 

Anyway, because we had a good atmosphere for an FA Cup tie against Arsenal and a League game against the reigning Champions doesn't say a lot really. People were still stopping halfway through YNWA and there are various reports of "Who are ya?" from the Moan Stand and Irish Triclours on the Kop. There is a long, long way to go.

I don't necessarily agree with that. KFS is a decent idea. Why would somebody want to take a flag with the name of some obscure market town on it to a Liverpool match? They only do it so their mates can see it on TV and the idea of supporting the team isn't spending all the first half on the phone trying to get someone to spot you on the telly. If they're that desperate to be on telly audition for X Factor.

 

RTK needs to work out exactly what it aims to achieve. Stopping Soccer AM chants and getting behind the team are what I thought it was about and that seems fair enough. But a few seem to think they are the RTK police, and some of those possibly never stood on the Kop in the sixties and seventies.

1. Right on. I saw several of them with the McKenzie T Shirts, running out of the Kop when Arsenal's third went in at the FA cup game.

I think it needs to be clearly defined though, are Spanish flags acceptable? If so, why not Irish or English? Are all of the above acceptable if they have a player's name on them? If people are going to go around ripping up and burning flags they better be sure they know why they're doing it if nothing else.

 

I just find the whole tone of the RTK thing a bit patronising and at times accusatory, even the use of the word "reclaim" suggests it's some sort of battle against a group (with the inference being that OOTers are to blame). I agree with the sentiment of improving the atmosphere and it seems to be having positive effects so far but it could easily drift into casual snobbery.

One thing that pisses me off, is the club issuing sit down announcements over the tannoy when the Kops in full voice. If the club co-operated with the fans more, then that'd make a big difference but you've got to wonder if they actually want an atmosphere in the ground at times, or whether they just want everyone to sit down nicely and be quiet. Also it would help if they didn't take it up the a*** to sky over all the early kick offs we get lumbered with.

 

The grounds always loud for Chelsea anyway and Arsenal in the fa cup for an evening kick off, was always going to be a good atmosphere (as will Everton, Barca and the Mancs). Arsenal in a few weeks for a 12.45 kick off, will be a bigger test, a long with the other run of the mill games.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. The RTK protest at the Arsenal match worked brilliantly and had a lot of impact. However I sincerely hope that "stand up for the 96" does not become just another football chant like "stand up if you hate Man U." It is well-intentioned, but we are in danger of trivialising the whole issue of Hillsborough.

Pisses me off an' all that. We sit in the Lower Cent and while the Kop is entirely standing for large portions of games, a silly wee lassie steward given the power the orange bib endows her with, regularly legs it up the stairs of our entrance/exit area to shout at someone who has the temerity to dare stand ON THE BACK ROW (!) causing no offence to anyone at all. Sit sown nicely and be quiet indeed.

If by Reclaim the Kop you mean get 80 Year Old Geriatrics sitting behind you telling you to sit down when you are sing Justice for the 96. It is working incredibly well.

It's not working because there was nothing to 'fix' IMO

 

The flags have been there for years

 

There was singing all around the ground yesterday - I was singing as usual and people around me that normally never sing were today

 

But that'll change again when we're playing 'smaller' sides.

There was, at full-time. Didn't last long but seemed to come from large sections of the MS & LC, not just the usual end of the MS.

 

I agree that chants for justice shouldn't become part of a comfy routine, just another chant with little meaning or knowledge behind it. And yet I think it's shameful it's not been sung at more games over the last 18 years. Once a year, around 15 April, is not good enough. It's been little more than lip service.

And that's what the RTK campain is mainly about. Keeping that out of Anfield.

 

The Kop wouldn't be the Kop without some arl fella telling you to sit down I suppose (post all seater).

What you don't need is the authorities being arses all the time about it.

The Boss Wednesday agreement is just a joke.

 

There are no rules on flags.

If it looks 'wrong' then it non KFS compliant.

 

Simple as that.

 

Some people look too deep into things.

 

RTK are NOT the Kop Police

 

It's just providing an education package to those who need it.

That's why the 'education' is taking place on the official website

and not on places like RAOTL, RAWL, TLW, YNWA & TTW&R

(places were people already appear to 'know the score')
