Some lads I know wanted to find out just how far they could make a transfer rumour travel.

They started of by posting at story called 'Davids to AZ? + two dutch in' on the Spurs forum glory-glory net on Thursday the 11th of January. *link*

The story is 100% fabricated and there's no thruth to it what so ever. Even the dutch part is just an English piece of text, which has been run through the babelfish to get it translated into Dutch. There were however several lads in on this as you can see from the first lot of replies, just to give the story some backing.

The first paper to pick up this story was The London Evening Standard, who ate the story raw and printed it later the same day. picture 1 Picture 2

And today it's rolling like thunder through:

Eat Sleep Sport

The Daily Mail

FansFC

And it'll probably be popping up everywhere this weekend

Just goes to show how little thruth there are to many of the rumours out there.... probably picking rumours up from ynwa as well I guess... :hooked:

Doesn't this only prove that journalists are lazy - although to be fair I gaven't looked at any of the links...

You can imagine how shocked I am to find that journalists are liars

Yep - and we're talking sports journalists specifically. A breed apart when it comes to making s*** up, as I've mentioned a few times before

This is right up there with the Diddier Baptiste stuff. Very funny. I think the lads who set this up should ask the journos for a donation.

not a patch on the story about Ludovic Guiliy's brother Gingan.

Surely none of the press reported we wanted to sign Gingan Guilly?

I've said it before, but I used to work for a not tiny sports news agency in London that had a routine of gathering the troops every Friday afternoon, just after lunch (if they could be found outside the pub) to brainstorm credible transfer rumours to put on their website over the weekend.

Industry standard.
