Computer Problem

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

 

Prob 1: Got a new Dell laptop. When I'm a program say browsing the internet and I close down out of it and then try to start another program its doesn't appear anywhere i.e on the taskbar or task manager. It just doesn't show up. Nothing will happen. I can go into the control panel and some other functions but it won't show the open programs. E.g Open Internet, close internet, re-open internet and it doesn't appear. Or itunes, it won't appear anywhere. I know its open because when I close down, it will suddenly appear and close itself down as the computer closes down.

 

Prob 2: I have microsoft outlook. I tried to configure my Eircom.net email account to it. Went through the set-up wizard, selected a http email provider (was this right?) and provided my email address, password and the url of the log-on page on eircom.net. Not sure if these steps are right but when I log onto Outlook it shows the url of eircom.net but doesn't display the inbox details. It states that server didn''t recgonise command and that cookies must be enabled. I have them enabled, I think as on the internet security settings, privacy I turned the security level down to lowest.

 

 

Any help. I'm not very up to speed with this area.
