Back when Momo was injured a few people on here had a "Who'll be back first" thread between Momo and Harry. Both were supposed to recover around the same time back then, but I haven't heard anything on Harry since then. With Luis and Speedy both injured now, along with Zenden, we are going to need someone to play left side. I think we are gonna need him back really soon... I know he is injury prone, but when fit he really does improve the first 11.

Any word on him?

Momo Sissoko insists he is ready to fight for his place in the centre of Liverpool's midfield following a series of impressive displays by Xabi Alonso and Steven Gerrard.

The Malian has not featured since dislocating his shoulder against Birmingham on November 8 but has set his sights on a return against Everton at the start of February.

"I feel comfortable when I run now and I am happy with how the injury has healed. Everything is okay and I just need to work on my fitness," he told LFC Magazine.

"I am pleased that Stevie and Xabi are playing at a good level at the moment. They are combining very well.

"Whether I come back and go straight into the middle again is up to the manager. Now my objective is to focus on my shoulder and when I am fit I will wait for my opportunity. The team is the most important thing."

Sissoko admits his time on the sidelines has been difficult.

He said: "It has been frustrating being out and all I want to do is play. It is not good when you see your teammates fight to win every game and you have to sit and watch.

"You miss out on things because you don't get to go to training and it can get you down. But life is like this and it spurs you on to work hard and fight to get back as soon as possible.

"Hopefully I can play well for the rest of the season and we can go on to win things, like we did last season."

First name on the team sheet when fit in my book mate. Wouldn't worry about Alonso and Gerrard's form.

Liverpool´s Kewell running towards Barcelona comeback

Harry Kewell has set his sights on being back in the Liverpool team in time for next month´s Champions League trip to Barcelona after running for the first time since the World Cup.

Liverpool travel to the Nou Camp on February 21 for the first leg of their second round meeting with the Catalan giants, and Kewell believes he is on track to be on the plane after a string of injuries that threatened to result in a premature end to his career.

"I actually started running on Tuesday for the first time since the World Cup, so that was amazing, just getting to this stage is a major relief and a weight off my mind," the Australian winger said.

Kewell returned to England in November after undergoing surgery on his left foot and groin in Sydney and although his rehabilitation is progressing well, he admits being sidelined becomes harder to bear the nearer he gets to a comeback.

"I think the desperation to play gets cranked up a little now that I am back here at Liverpool," he told Liverpool´s matchday programme.

"I know I am getting closer but I´m so keen to get back into it now that it can´t come quickly enough for me. This is the frustrating stage, when it´s close enough that you start to get your hopes up.

"It is gutting seeing the boys play and knowing that you can´t be part of it - just yet."

Kewell added: "I hope that I´m about three or four weeks away from being fully fit. I´m under the supervision of the medical team here and the surgeons who operated on me, so once they are all happy with the running then I can start on ball work and once that is going well, it is up to the manager when he decides I´m ready to return.

"I´ve been back in England since the middle of November, and it´s getting harder and harder. The lads are great here, they´re always asking when I´m going to be ready and how I´m going but you can´t really feel part of it unless you´re getting your shirt dirty with them at the weekend."

On form, he can be feckin superb. Lets hope he can get himself fit and give us something to shout about before he probably leaves us in the summer.

good to see him back, but Kewell...returning from injury for a big game... Haven't we seen that before

didn't take long!

I just can't see him being back for that tho if he's just started running now :o The length of time he's been out, and his record of crocky-ness, would be surprised if he's gonna be playing within a month.

Going to be controversial here and not slag him off. Think he's still the best left sided player at the club and we've missed him alot. If he can get fit, his return will be a major boost. Could provide the spark against Barcelona we were worried Garcia's injury might leave us without.

Agree with all of that but on past evidence, how much faith do you have that he'd a. last longer than 30 minutes, and b. perform to a good enough standard for the team? I'd sooner let Gonzalez have a go at them.

If he's recovered and is deemed to be fit, I'm fully confident he'd last the whole match. Why wouldn't he? He's not cursed.

It's lucky for him to come on in a big game and then go off injured.

C'mon, Harry! Get back so you can go off injured!

Totally agree. Kewell gives us balance and rarely loses possession, and he'll be chompin' on the bit to play, can't wait to see him back.

Past experience shows that it takes Harry months to get back to match fitness after a long injury break. He might be physically fit enough to play against Barca, but if he did, it's unlikely that he would be very effective. :(

If he was fit from the start of the season we would be a-lot closer to the top of the premiership then we are at the momment

I agree that he is the best left sided player at the club, and whilst I doubt he will be fully fit for Barca, it will still be a big boost to have him back for the final stages of the season, especially with Garcia out.

I like Harry, and I haven't totally given up on him yet, and if he can get fully fit he will no doubt give Rafa more possibilities.

Besides, it will be nice to have him for the quarter finals ;)

I hadn't completely given up hope on Harry and thought after some of his performances last season, this would be the season when he finally put his injury woes behind him for good.

Like I said in my original post, I can't see Rafa keeping hold of him in the summer as he has proved time and again, he cannot be relied upon.

I'm pretty sure his contract expires next summer , so we probably won't get much for him either.

If thats the case, and if he wants to re-sign, why not offer him a appearance-based shorter contract?
