Boca Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 According to sky sports REDS CAPTURE LANUS STARLETBy Francisco Acedo - Created on 10 Jan 2007 Liverpool have sealed the deal to sign Lanus' Argentine starlet Sebastian Leto. River Plate had been favourites to land the 20-year-old, before baulking at the club's $3.6million (£1.85million) valuation. However, The Reds were happy to meet Lanus' valuation and have now agreed terms with the club and player. Leto will not arrive in England until the end of the season after Liverpool allowed to Leto to remain with Lanus for the next five months. The youngster is staying level-headed after securing his Reds switch and is looking forward to the challenge of playing in the Premiership. "I am calm. Liverpool is a club with a lot of history. I do not fear the challenge," said Leto. "I've not spoken with Benitez, although I've seen a lot of Premiership matches on television. "I'm a winger who likes to counter-attack. I don't anticipate struggling to adapt to life in England."

smokescreen Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 "I'm a winger who likes to counter-attack." Can we recall him from our '5 month loan' early?
Alonso Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 "I'm a winger who likes to counter-attack. I don't anticipate struggling to adapt to life in England."Which wing and sign more Argies!
Gomez Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Any good Another 3rd choice keeper we'll never see play.
jimmylibel Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Another 3rd choice keeper we'll never see play. That's the other one, keep up. This one's the ineffective attacking midfielder.
Magic8Ball Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 1 - which wing ? 2 - the Sheff Utd player we have first option on, which wing does he play on too ?
Kite Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Another 3rd choice keeper we'll never see play.If he's a keeper who likes to "counter attack down the wing", I'd pay way extra to see that.
jimmylibel Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 1 - which wing ? 2 - the Sheff Utd player we have first option on, which wing does he play on too ? 1 - don't know 2 - all of them, he's the ultimate utility player. A bargain at a mere £9 million.
Reggie Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Which wing and sign more Argies! Yeah because the one we have is bloody brilliant.
Stevie H Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 so is he the new lionel messi, new kily gonzalez, new claudio lopez or new ariel ortega? we should be told.
fyds Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Yeah because the one we have is bloody brilliant. Tell you what, I'm glad you didn't see HJansen's first few full first team games for Liverpool - you'd have had him butchered by machete-wielding Rhesus monkeys on steriods. He was AWFUL. As I recall, he turned out not bad though...still, why give a lad a chance?
CarraLegend Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Bet Rafa is on the phone to Lanus saying we're taking him now if that could be done probably cant with the agreement already in place though. Shame though as he'd probably walk straight into the team on Saturday given the injuries.

Gomez Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 If he's a keeper who likes to "counter attack down the wing", I'd pay way extra to see that. OK. let me rephrase that.Another expensive foriegn youngster we'll wait 8 months to see before he struggles to adapt to the premiership and we slag of Rafa for throwing him into such an important cup game / dissappeares in the reserves and we slag off Rafa for not giving him a chance, I mean just what is the point in picking him in the squad if you are not going to play him?
