Mondavi Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 According to Sky Sports News, so I'm told. Anyone confirm? his agent's confirmed it to Sky apparently, on there now. maybe we were hoping to conclude sale of Dudek before announcing it officially ourselves ? bet the dude's price has dropped like a soddin stone in the last 4 days. FRIDAY : Yes, 4 million pounds it is - deal. SUNDAY : errr, we did say euro's no ? WEDNESDAY : There you go Rick, 2 bags of spuds and a couple of new bulbs for the scoreboard.
honourablegeorge Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 Hopefully we also have a verbal agreement that Dudek won;t play in any leage games, EVER. Shame, such fond memories of him, and I like the guy a lot.
Guest Ross17 Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Is this the end for dudek then? I had read that Padelli was unhappy at having to serve as an understudy but I cant see him playing much with Reina in goal so why sign on loan for Liverpool?

I had read that Padelli was unhappy at having to serve as an understudy but I cant see him playing much with Reina in goal so why sign on loan for Liverpool? to further his education at the greatest club in Europe maybe he sees it as a good oppurtunity to learn, as understudy at LFC as aposed to some serie B club where he's been so far this season I think ? maybe also he is 3rd choice at Samp ?
Guest Ross17 Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Obviously there is the potential to earn a move if he impresses enough during his stay but then we have Reina, Carson, Pardelli, Martin and Dudek on the books, am I alone in thinking we have a fascination for signing keepers we dont really need????
surfaris Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 dudek will be his mentor. a good & very reliable one.
jimmylibel Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Liverpool are close to clinching the signing of Sampdoria goalkeeper Daniele Padelli. The 21-year-old is flying to Merseyside on Wednesday to hold talks and undergo a medical at Anfield. Padelli, who is currently on loan at Serie B side Crotone, is highly regarded in Italy. The player's agent Silvano Martina revealed a six-month loan deal had been agreed between Liverpool and Sampdoria and that the player was excited about the prospect of moving to England. "Padelli will travel to Liverpool this afternoon," said Martina. "The clubs have agreed on a six-month loan deal and the player is excited at the prospect of playing for Liverpool." The move places a major doubt over Jerzy Dudek's future at Anfield with the Pole failing to impress in the recent defeats to Arsenal in the FA Cup and Carling Cup. Link

surfaris Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 we loaned our great prospect young keeper so then we can loan young italian buffon?

honourablegeorge Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 Padelli hasn't actually ever played for Sampdoria, played half an hour as sub for the Italian U-21s during an injury crisis, and returned early from a loan to Crotone as he was being kept out of the side by Juve's fifth choice keeper who was also on loan there.

honourablegeorge Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 I was kind of hoping he was a replacement for Jerzy. Doesn't look like he's anywhere close.
Boca Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 I was kind of hoping he was a replacement for Jerzy. Doesn't look like he's anywhere close. Doesn't sound like Jerzy is going anywhere. ?I am devastated and disappointed. The last time I let in six goals I was very young. ?I wanted to take my opportunity in these two cup ties and build some confidence after six or seven months without much football, then you face a side like Arsenal. It is very difficult. ?For a goalkeeper you need experience but you can never beat confidence. Arsenal had a different team from Saturday, but they have some very talented and skilful players. ?We knew it would be a good opportunity for some of our young lads as well to show their ability. ?I suppose this should be like taking a cold shower for us, to wake us up. Now we need to fight as much as we can in the Premiership and take that into the Champions League in February.? He added: ?We hardly ever conceded goals yet in two games we have conceded nine. ?This is very strange not just for the team but for me. I have not played regularly and was hoping to get something out of the games. But I am very disappointed. ?I do not expect anything in terms of more games because a goalkeeper (Jose Reina) was brought in after the Champions League final and the situation was clear for me. ?It is difficult for a goalkeeper like me to be second goalkeeper and to wait months for your chance. This experience I do not need, just sitting on the bench and watching games. ?But it looks like I will be here for the rest of the season. Privately I am happy but it is very difficult for a player when you are not playing games. ?If you are playing one game in two months it is difficult to show your quality. But we will see what happens.? Echo - Irish version
R A Softlad Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Rafa confirmed in the Echo that he'd signed.
bazz Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 we loaned our great prospect young keeper so then we can loan young italian buffon? Exactly Why do we do that?
Greenoak Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Exactly Why do we do that? How about Rafa thought the Dude could do the job until his contract ran out and Carson could get great plenty of practice at Charlton. Well the second bit was right. We cannot get Carson back. Dudek has completely lost it so quick action was needed hence a loaner. Dont be surprised if we find a loan deal for the left hand side as that is now the next major problem till the money comes if. If it does we can look at the real deal players not the mark downs we currently look at.
Guest Kev Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Does anything think that he could be here to stay, Pardelli that is ?
RafaShanks Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Anyone been watching Martin on a regular basis? I really don't have a clue what's Rafa's gonna do with all these keepers.
San Diego Red Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 To be honest, I'm sick Rafa buying/taking on loan 'promising' players.
CarraLegend Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 To be honest, I'm sick Rafa buying/taking on loan 'promising' players. Diddums! Get yourself to bed and have plenty of fluids. Isnt milk good for lining the stomach?
Raj Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 To be honest, I'm sick Rafa buying/taking on loan 'promising' players. Eh? Isn't that what everyone wants him to do, after the Carling Cup debacle showed that our youngsters are not in the same league as Arsenal's? What do you want him to do?
Kahnee Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 To be honest, I'm sick Rafa buying/taking on loan 'promising' players. Yeah. Better we wait to see if they fulfill their potential and then pay the inflated price, eh?
Magic8Ball Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 To be honest, I'm sick Rafa buying/taking on loan 'promising' players. This is where our problems started and remain it all started win King Kenny who did a masterful job BUT he focussed on the first team and didnt bring in any youngsters or build up a replacement side the result was when that generation disappeared there were no replacements and we had to start all over again - we're still in that boat The only way out is lots of money or we get extremely lucky with some youngsters like Man Utd did if we were to get say 7 promising youngsters coming through at the same time - thats potentially the next generation team and suddenly you are buying top talent to fill the gaps rather than buying another squad player We cant afford to buy the best players ( well not as many as we need) so we have to gamble on the youngsters - all this despite our academy TBH now you are seeing why Houllier and Rafa are in conflict with Heighway .. despite all that spending, where's the talent ? even WHU are providing more talent than we are
