I've said all along that I've never taken to him and today was just the reason why. He's just not a striker, he's too weak in the air, easily out-muscled and has no speed.

 

Another steward summed him up perfectly for me, "He's not a player, he's a nuisance who might get the odd goal here and there"

 

Liverpool needs someone better, someone much better that Peter Crouch.

 

That's the way it is for me and I've tried to be supportive and he has scored some belters, but overall he's just not good enough for us.

but not our best (that's Dirk)......in fact, the holding job that kuyt does at times is as good as Crouch and he is a half foot (at least) shorter....I wish PC would use his height better....and improve his heading ability...

I agree. People always say that lil' Luis is our most infuriating player, but for me it is Crouch. I hate the way he runs about 15 yards away from play with his hands on his head when a move breaks down. Just work hard at winning the ball back ffs.

Crouch has been brilliant put in some magnificent performances this season yet the thing that gets me the most people think he is a player he is not...

However give the ball to his feet and he has awesome control and can dazzle defenders take last week against Bolton for example...

Kuyt put him to shame today. Thing is with Crouch, just as his most loyal supporters are starting to get on his back, he does something (overhead kick vs bolton) and everyone loves him again till he has another spell of s****ness (usually the next load of games)

 

He'd be a good 4th choice striker, but 1st, 2nd or even 3rd, he clearly doesn't play well enough consistently enough, and doesn't score enough goals.

Makes me think what kind of partnership Cisse and Kuyt would have had.

OK, I'll give you that he's better on the ground than in the air, but so is the QEII and they both turn the same.

Did you see him take on a few of their players and retain possession when no one was in support ? ( think we won a throw in ) Had that been Kuyt or Baros people would have sucked his c***.

Yes, the one down the Kop/Paddock end ? I also saw him win the header for Kuyt's goal. But that was it, his whole contribution for 90 minutes.

 

The other week I was questioning Kuyt's movement (ie works to hard in the wrong areas), but I believe he's improved on that of late and looks the part now more than ever. But he needs someone better than Crouch and soon.

There is something drastically wrong when Garcia, our shortest player is better in the air than Crouch, our tallest player.

 

 

if Crouch could actually head a ball then he'd be awesome... its just a shame he can't and it looks like he never will as he hasn't improved on it. Thank god Kuyt was there tonight to direct the pass back to the keeper from Crouch actually into the back of the net.

If Crouch can run into the ball when he heads it, it usually is a good header. If he stands still and heads it, it's ALWAYS headed directely at the goalie. Look at where Kuyt flicked the header on - right in front of Arsenals goalie. Yet another gash header by Crouch.

Actually, that was a perfect header by Crouch, as he knew Kuyt was in there.
