can anyone shed light on how good was he actually was for us?

Very average - I think we signed him cos his hair went well with our away kit at the time

At his peak 85-90 he was one of the Top 5 defenders in Europe, unfortunately we only saw the true Hajsen for a season or so before he got "Flecked" at N'wich, he was never the same after that. His son is now playing for S'land and the Swedisk national B team and is a decent left winger. He won a TV show sing contest last year and still has the kaworka

We thought we had beaten united for his signature,but they had the last laugh, they got pallister instead,hysen won a title medal in 1990,but was playing alongside hansen,who would make any player look good.

Hysen was a good player, we got him at the end of his career when we were beginning to slide a little.

Couldn't half head a ball, not big powerful headers but accurate ones from out of defence and when he went up for corners.

every Swede I have ever spoken to about this is always amazed at how poor I think he was - they rate him as one of the best players ever to come out of Europe. I think he just never quite delivered for us - whether it was age, the pace of the game, an over-hyped arrival, different style of play or what , I don't know - but he was never as good as he was supposed to be or his reputation suggested he should have been.

He had one good season alongside Hansen.

 

As soon as Hansen was gone Hysen was sliding in for tackles that he was never going to win and his positional sense was really poor. possibly cos he'd lost his pace towards the end of his career and started to try and compensate by taking up deep positions?

Personally I never rated him too highly, in my opinion he was average at best.

You are EXACTLY 10 years younger than me therefore not too young to remember Glenn Hysen.

He was a huge disappointment. He chose us over the mancs. I thnk he was playing in Italy at the time. In his defence - sort of - it was said around the time that he'd been used as a sweeper (remember them?) behind the back four in Italy and we played him as an orthodox CB in a 4-4-2, which he wasn't used to

When he was good he was very, very good but when he was bad he was shocking.

 

Actually, he started promisingly and then as someone said above, he got the runaround off Robert Fleck and his invincibilty was gone. He was probably one of the first of the "defenders who couldn't defend" that Liverpool bought from a seemingly never-ending production line somewhere from about 1990 onwards.

Better than a lot of people give him credit for but probably not as good as some think. We won the league with him so he was decent enough that season.

Around the time we started buying "midfielders who can't run/tackle/pass" with Paul Stewart and "forwards who go backwards" with Sean Dundee.

i think his debut was agaisnt Arsenal in the Charidee Shield....I would comment on his performance, however I spent the majority of the game trying to get into the knickers of some slapper from Oxford and succeeding.........ended up giving her one at her mates house in Perivale after the match....Think the ticket cost me £10 or something...well worth it...we won I believe
