Benitez Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Strange really, he was so highly touted when he went there. But it's been a huge struggle. Well out of the title race, and fighing with Aberdeen and Hearts for the 2nd spot. And now all this with Barry Ferguson? I get the feeling that many are siding with the local hero rather than the manager. Le Guen sounds pretty defetist as well when he says things like: Asked whether Ferguson would now be sold, he said: "It remains to be seen. It depends on my own situation."
Rimbeux Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 There are other jobs around, maybe he's pushing for the sack so he gets more of a pay off? Anyone know the full story? Is it a case of Ferguson playing his own game and not to instructions, or is it about drinking?
Benitez Posted January 2, 2007 Author Posted January 2, 2007 dunno all of whats being on there, not really followed the whole saga. But from reading that article about Ferguson, it seems there are some fractions in the dressing room, and that Ferguson won't follow Le Guen's instructions on the pitch. BBC article here

BBC article here my mates hubby is a rangers fan and i have just been speaking to him he reckons that there is a split in the dressing room with some players firmly anti Le Guen.....hence he has been going on the pitch and not doing what he is told, thus ruining the best layed plans shocking
Herbie von Smalls Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 barry ferguson - raul of the rangers. living off what past glories a scottish premiership player can muster.
magneto Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I'll see your PSG in 2 weeks and raise you a Marseille in 1 month.

Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 feerguson is frankly too average for antics.
Crazy Horse Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Rumours still abound that Walter Smith will be returning.
Benzo-13 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Le Guen being a Catholic ain't gonna help matters in this little row.

Le Guen sounds pretty defetist as well when he says things like: Asked whether Ferguson would now be sold, he said: "It remains to be seen. It depends on my own situation." His record at Lyon speaks for itself. He is probably right and shouldn't have to put up with average players like Ferguson thinking they can do whatever they like on the pitch. Problem is I think that patcience is wearing thin with the bad results. But if the fans and the players who are still loyal back him they will benefit in the end. What really surprised me was that he signed for them in the first place.
Benitez Posted January 2, 2007 Author Posted January 2, 2007 I was surprised he signed for them. But his record at Lyon doesn't count for much at this moment. He's in an average league, does having average players really stump him that much?! There are a few average managers who have done great in that league as well, which doesn't help Le Guen's credibility.
denver Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Ferguson was rumoured to be behind McLeish getting the boot last season too, apparently he didn't get on with him either. The big problem for Le Guen is that a lot of his own buys have flopped. Sebo is terrible, Sionko very hot and cold, Svenson average at best. The only real success is probably Clement, who is only really starting to play well now. He also dropped Kris Boyd, the teams top scorer, and top scorer in the league because he didn't track back enough, which angered a lot of fans when the team couldn't buy a goal without him. There have been a few things out of his control -- Burke's injury, when he is one of the few flair players in the team, and Prso now being essentially unable to run due to age and knee issues. He definitely won't be sacked before the end of the season -- Rangers haven't had that many managers in their history and Murray isn't keen to give up that quickly. If the team goes on a bad run without Ferguson then the tide will be firmly against him, but if they get a good run going the fans will forget about it. I think what happens with Ferguson will say a lot. If he isn't sold now in the window then things don't look good for Le Guen.

If Liverpool played in a league where every other team bar one was Bolton would Rafa be as highly thought of as he is? Le Guen is trying to have his side play football in a non-football league. Look at their form in Europe where they aren't faced with kick and rush crap like they are week in week out in the league.
Benitez Posted January 4, 2007 Author Posted January 4, 2007 Rafa does coach in one of the most uncultured leagues in Europe though Sorry, it dosent change the fact that for whatever reasons the guy is in a huge hole right now, and excuses amounting to the fact that a lot of the teams he'll come up against aren't good isn't really going to help him, in fact, it makes it sound worse. I've fec all against Le Guen, I don't know much about the guy tbh, what he's like, how much of this is down to his personality or whatever, but I don't think it's unreasonable to say that better would have been expected, whatever the style of the league.
Guest zaphod Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 He´ll last just about as long as Wengers contract
Guest Cardie Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Bizarre sacking. Although the team hasn't performed well this season backing a player over a manager sends out the wrong signal. He's talented manager who has struggled to adapt in his first season while trying to build a team that he can work with on a small budget, Rangers will struggle to get as big a name as that in again. Given time he could have gone on to big things with them.
Guest RedLegend Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 left by mutual consent as i goes. Sacked in other words.
Herbie von Smalls Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 farce. it's a 'mutual consenter', according to david murray. ssn talking to graham roberts who's suggesting that le guen was angling for a move to psg. what rangers lack in footballing competence, they make up for in propaganda. ferguson expected to play on sunday.
Gilps Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 ferguson expected to play on sunday. They might as well make him player manager and have done with it.
