sean Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 2 front runners to come to ours. I think we're in it, we're playing the best, most controlled fooball from anyone in the league (goals and clean sheets) and we look as fresh as the first day of the season.
Swipe Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Don't think we are. Lost too much ground. Need two teams to drop major points (by their standards). Not going to happen.
Hassony Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Don't think we are. Lost too much ground. Need two teams to drop major points (by their standards). Not going to happen.utd have to go to chelsea, arsenal and anfield, and chelsea have been dropping points and their camp doesn't seem to be as happy as they have been in previous seasons, if it wasn't for drogba having the season of his life they would probably be 10-12 points less than what they are on now if only we didn't have such a difficult start to the season away from home
Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 if we hadn't lost to blackburn, I might have believed, with momentum and everything. it's too late though. Still, 2nd place is within reach.

CL to resume, injuries and suspensions to kick in, plus the mancs must have a blip at some point. we're not out of it just yet.
Sion Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 if we were within 9 points I would have hope but too far. United won't drop 22-25 points. which is what we'd need to catch them without having to win every single game
Hassony Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 if we hadn't lost to blackburn, I might have believed, with momentum and everything. it's too late though. Still, 2nd place is within reach.would Brandon Lee and Dolph Lundgren have given up?
Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 would Brandon Lee and Dolph Lundgren have given up? we'll be docked points if our players start to snap the necks of opponents.
Kindred Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Everyone keeps saying how the top teams still have to come to anfield. Thats all well & good, but we still have to beat them all there, to stand any chance of even nicking second (which might yet be possible) and thats easier said than done. Rafa has altered the way we defend, hes now altering the way we attack - both of which has taken time, but I think its clear to see that the foundations of a great side have been laid. Whilst I believe we are well capable of getting the results against these teams this season, its still not a foregone conclusion. What is for certain is that we are on the path towards our goal, lets just try to enjoy the ride (ups & downs) and give the team everything that we've got and we might just make it.

Sounds like a speech, at the time of writing where you sitting in a tuxedo with a glass of wine raised?

RafaShanks Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 (edited) We have the best home record in the Premiership. We've sorted out our away form (minus the blip at Blackburn, which we should have won), so we'll see what happens. The top two still have to play each other and Arsenal and have some other intriguing games to face as well. As long as it's mathmatically possibly, we're still in it. Kindred Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Sounds like a speech, at the time of writing where you sitting in a tuxedo with a glass of wine raised? Haven't got a tux! Its just that depending on the result we can be the best or the worst team ever according to some. Think we just need to recognise whats going on with the team (and the club) and enjoy the ride to (hopefully) our eventual success.
Bootle Buck Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Chelsea have been long overdue a poor spell of results. I still don't think Utd are as good as their position. Let's just hope they both can lose their way as we get better.

Couldn't agree more Sean - if we keep this momentum going and maintain the current home run and turn over the Chavs, Man U and Arsenal (x3) I can see us clawing our way back into the big picture.
nvdm Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Last 8 games: United: W6-D1-L1Us: W6-D1-L1Chelski: W4-D4-L0 We've been playing great football and getting the results, but haven't gained any ground on the leaders. As usual, our performances against the top 4 will determine the outcome of our season.

Let's just hope they both can lose their way as we get better. IMO, the mancs really have flattered to deceive. Some key players have been performing for them so far, i.e Ronaldo and Scholes and thats why they are where they are. They are by no means the best side in the league.
DaveLFC Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 (edited) we'll be docked points if our players start to snap the necks of opponents. I could be wrong here but I do believe that having an MBE allows some neck snapping privilages. Edited January 2, 2007 by DaveLFC
Stevie H Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 They are by no means the best side in the league.they are. but they've been very fortunate with injuries so far.
Paul B Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 We could win every game from now to the end of the season and still come 2nd or 3rd. We have to hope BOTH Utd and Chelsea have major blips AND we don't suffer another Blackburn result WHILST progressing in the European cup, the FA cup and the league cup. Sorry folks, let's live on planet earth, shall we?
Rory Fitzgerald Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Cant see it to be quite honest. We needed to pick up 3pts at Blackburn and for Utd to drop a few. I still think we are not strong enough away from home to pick up the required pts to mount a challenge
Guest Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 the Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd games at Anfield - we have to win all three - not an easy task even including our home form to date Also depends on the referee for each match
Ronnie Whelan Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 they are. but they've been very fortunate with injuries so far. You think they have the best 11 in the league?
