Bootle Buck Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 The lad has been given a fair bit of stick(me included). However, today he was superb. His play was very intelligent and he worked hard for the team. Hopefully this is what he needs to get his Liverpool career going. I am sure he will be up to proving Wenger wrong at the weekend. Keep it up lad!
hideNseek Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Played really well second half. Kuyt just beat him to MOM IMO.
MikeK88 Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I certainly noticed his confidence improve after half time, he must of eaten his shreddies. In the first half he was contempt with getting the ball and let finnan overlap, in the 2nd half he was happy to do it himself... Well played.
Guest RedIsMyColour Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Yeah credit where its due. Hopefully he can start playing like that every week!!
Sion Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 (edited) played very well. Up there with his best performances in a Liverpool shirt. Helped that Bolton's full backs are gash and they play as narrow as possible, but still a good performance in comparison to how's he's played previously. Edited January 1, 2007 by Sion
RafaShanks Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Yeah credit where its due. Hopefully he can start playing like that every week!! That's the next step. He needs to be consistent to win the fans over. Was superb and showed us all the player he can be.
Dublinred4ever Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 That's the next step. He needs to be consistent to win the fans over. Was superb and showed us all the player he can be. He got stuck into the rough stuff as well when Bolton tried it and worked his a*** off. Its what he needs to do cos he has the talent, no question.
CarraLegend Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 The real Jermaine Pennant showed up today. Was quality.
DonRafa Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Hopefully do his self-confidence the world of good. I'd imagine he'd be quite brittle in that respect at the best of times.
Guest JV Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 he was excellent todayIndeed. Well pleased for the lad.
Tobes Rafa Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Jees, I listened to the match on the radio and 5 Live would have you believe he was the worst player on the pitch. Good to hear the Liverpool perspective though.
dorgie Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Well done JP. Have to admit I was a little frustrated with him at h.t., First half he had tonnes of possession, but his delivery left him down I felt. Second half he was outstanding. Again, he saw plenty of the ball, but this time his delivery was ace.
Bootle Buck Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 i thought he was very disciplined in his final pass today and mostly made great choices, especially the few pull backs in the first half. He and Finnan seem to have a good understanding. Did they ever play togethor at Notts County?
dorgie Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Did they ever play togethor at Notts County? Not sure if they played together, I doubt it given Pennant's age. But the commentator said that Fat Sam let both of them go during his time as manager there
Stevie H Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 he seemed to be playing with a lot more confidence today, almost cockiness even. want to see a bit more attitude from him as he's the sort of player who seems to play better when he's a bit pissed off.
intense enigma Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Not sure if they played together, I doubt it given Pennant's age. But the commentator said that Fat Sam let both of them go during his time as manager there Exceptional judge of talent is Fat Sam
muleskinner Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Not sure if they played together, I doubt it given Pennant's age. But the commentator said that Fat Sam let both of them go during his time as manager there £2million for a 15 year old when your side is in the lower leagues, he would have been mad not to take the money.
Guest Sabre Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 His role was essential today as well - delighted for him.
ricflairandy Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 he was unplayable today. And its about time he started playing like he did for brum.
Ombudsam Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 He did well in the second half. Gerrard singled him out for praise
billybunter Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 perhaps im being a little fickle but he really changed my opinion on him today. Ive found him extremely frustrating and really didnt think he was good enough, but today he was a totally different player....thank heavens he's gone up a few gears
alias75 Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Ive been critical of him too so you have to give credit when its due, but of course 1 good game every now and again doesnt cut it and a club like ours. Lets hope its been a case of him settling in and getting confident in his new surroundings. Whenever you join a new club its always a case of proving to your team mates what you can do and once you've done that you can play with more confidence and less fear. This should be the level he aims for 4 games out of 5
