Seems pretty reasonable, it's a fair bet that one if not both of the clubs will be involved in the FA Cup S/F. One or both could still be involved in the CL as well. Contingency planning that's all.

You don't think it's another example of Sky dictating the fixture list to make their programmes more exciting?

Why don't we just let them say at the start of the season who they want to play who and when? I'm appalled.

Probably yes, but there could be very little scope to find a date for a possible re-arranged game. ITV did it in 1989 for our clash against Arsenal.

Aye, but there were extenuating circumstances to that. This looks to me like a case of opportunism...but I'm quite cynical. :)

Ofcourse there was but if I remember we had a few games to re-arrange and Arsenal just happened to be put back to the end of the season.

Sky do run football these days, they pay the money and can dictate what games they can re-arrange and what kick-offs (although the police do have power to say no) as in our games against Man Utd at Anfield.

Yes, I'm just bemoaning that fact basically. i hate the idea that not only can they screw up people's plans with their weekend scheduling, now it's going to be, 'let us decide when the big games are', and as sure as eggs is eggs, they want the decision taken now in case United and Chelsea are knocked out of one of those competitions...if it came down to March/April time and there was serious fixture congestion, then maybe there's slightly more justification for it, but doing it now...

I'm sure both clubs don't want a 'Winner Takes All' showdown if it could be helped. It would be interesting though to see if a date became available before the proposed one.

They are edging their bets, hoping it will be the title decider.

Lots of people watching...er..except your lot of course.

even if the difference will be 10 points by then sky will still bill it as yet another "judgment day"

We always like to see who finishes second to us.

And it's 'hedging their bets' btw.;)

Call me dumb, but when was the last time anyone finnished second to you in the league? Do you remember it? :D

if they are going to start doing things like this they may as well "fix" all the fixtures.

League champions v Div 1 champs 1st game of the season.

A derby every weekend on sky.

And deciders held near the end of the season home and away.

feckin cheats.

Football began in 1993

(Which was far too old for me)

Between the end of the Cold War and Oasis' first LP.

That is a silly scouse proverb.

I remember 17 cold years on the Stretford End before that. So it must have started around 1969 when United won the European Cup and I first started to support them. Dont remember many other good times in that period, also you realise ther is a good reason why I hate Liverpool. :P
