Maldini Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I think you were trying to hard to be objective and went in the opposite direction. Neville is a good player, Finnan is a great player.
NWR Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I think you were trying to hard to be objective and went in the opposite direction. Neville is a good player, Finnan is a great player. Who has?

Rich Gobey Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I'd have Carvallho in there instead of Ferdinand.

Sion Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 (edited) On current form, I wouldn't have any of our players in. In top form, I'd say Carra, Gerrard, Alonso, Garcia, Bellamy, Kuyt at least would all be with a look in. On current form VDS (Cech if he had played more this season) Neville Terry Toure Cole Ronaldo Gilberto Scholes Essien Giggs Drogba Edited December 27, 2006 by Sion
Guest Anders Honoré Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I'd go with CechFinnan Terry Gallas ColeRonaldo Gerrard Essien GiggsScholesHenry
Hassony Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I'd go with CechFinnan Terry Gallas ColeRonaldo Gerrard Essien GiggsScholesHenryso despite none of his managers playing him as a centeback you would still have gallas ahead of carvahro, carra, vidic and ferdinand? On current form, I wouldn't have any of our players in. In top form, I'd say Carra, Gerrard, Alonso, Garcia, Bellamy, Kuyt at least would all be with a look in. same goes for pepe, agger and sissoko
Guz Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 CechFinnan Terry Carragher ColeGerrard Essien Makelele RonaldoHenry Rooney
Guest Anders Honoré Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 so despite none of his managers playing him as a centeback you would still have gallas ahead of carvahro, carra, vidic and ferdinand? Yep. He is just the best centreback in the league imo. His record there speaks for itself. His versatility shouldn't count against him in that regard.
Ostrich Man Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 VDSNeville, Rio, Vidic, EvraRonaldo, Carrick, Scholes, GiggsRooney, Saha I am loyal and want to be top of the league. id have either essien or gerrard instead of carrick to be fair...apart from that, spot on.
betterman Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Yep. He is just the best centreback in the league imo. His record there speaks for itself. His versatility shouldn't count against him in that regard. Would agree with that, always thought he was chelsea's best centre back. They'd love to have him right now, that's for sure. He's a better full-back than most full-backs too. Himself and Toure, given time, should be one of the best pairings around. Otherwise, if the point about the best team drawn from the top four is how few of our players are in it, I think it's simply a matter of money and that includes what wages teams can pay as well as what they can shell out in the first place. We're still well behind the others - including Arsenal - and I think if anything holds true these days it's that the big money - almost - always rises to the top. Particularly in the domestic leagues. The only recent transfer buy I reckon the other clubs reckon we stole a march on them with was Xabi to be honest and hopefully Agger given time. (I'm having a cut at the rest of the good buys, I just don't think any of the others are that cut up about missing out on Kuyt, Pepe or Bellamy etc). You could argue that this thread actually just proves we're punching above our weight, but what would be the point of that when you get the 'we're s***' nonsense in other threads? Our trophy haul, which includes the biggest of them all, in recent years is excellent I reckon.Sorry if I'm way off on a tangent here, but while we are no doubt a very big club and in most respects streets ahead of most others (who'd honestly want to be a Chelsea fan right now despite the 'success'?), in financial terms we are not up their with the best of them. That's not to apportion blame, it's just a fact. I'm not saying football can be reduced to economics, but a player of a certain class comes on the market and the 'top four' all want him, who'd your money honestly be on? We're just lucky we have one of the best managers around right now. We got one in the pub after the match yesterday: CechNeville, Ferdinand, Terry, ColeRonaldo, Gerrard, Fabregas, RobbenDrobga Henry Embarrassing innit the amount of our own players we picked And despite what I just said give me Finnan and Carra over Neville and Ferdinand any day of the week. Nothing to do with their club either. Xabi is worth a shout too. Actually, for Ferdinand, I 'd rather have any of Toure, Gallas, Carvalho or Vidic too.
Bootle Buck Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 How can any of you have a team without Drogba in it at the moment ?
NWR Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 id have either essien or gerrard instead of carrick to be fair...apart from that, spot on. So would I as I have stated many times on here, but where does penis envy get you with this lot? Essien has been fantastic this season, but Gerrard has been quiet by his very very high standards. As most posters on here will never admit to watching United I have to point out that not only has Gary Neville been Mr Consistancy this season, he has been outstanding. Oh, I would also take Drogba up front. (Please dont make a play on my choice of words)

Flanders Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 no scholes....based on ability.pahTo play in that team he needs to oust Gerrard. I'm not blind to how good Scholes is, he just isn't as good as Gerrard. At his best, Gerrard is the best.
