oakie bob Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 When did he (Reed) sign that deal to 2009? last week.....................nice pay off
Cam Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Shocking from Charlton. I'm an idiot and even I knew Reed was a poor choice. Them to stay up and Pardew-sacking West Ham to go down would be funny.
crisps Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 last week.....................nice pay off few million for a few weeks work haha
CarraLegend Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Glenn Roeder must be gutted, it looked like he'd sneaked up to joint worst manager in the League along with this clown, now he's at the bottom of the list all on his own.

Tosh Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Unbelievable. If it wasn't so f***ing inept, the Charlton fans would be delighted with getting rid of Les. Nearly as pleased as one Mr S Gerrard... Why did they appoint him in the first place? Stoopidest decision, ever, fact. Christmas came early in Les' houseold
betterman Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Pardew's probably the best appointment they could make right now in terms of who is available and who would touch it with a forty foot pole. Better than the previous two incumbents anyway. Still, would be surprised to see them turn it around now.

galés rojo Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Pardew's a better manager than Curbishley is. b******s is he.
Romario Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 How come Curbishley never was given decent cash to spend in all his years at Charlton yet bloody Ian Dowie was? And Les was told money would be made available for him come the transfer window too. Don't understand what's going on at Charlton at all.

Throwing money at it now, a big gamble I reckon. 11m for Dowie to spend (I think that was the figure) was a lot for Charlton to waste. Only Andy Reid has looked like a proper player and he's not liable to stay fit for any prolonged period of time. If they go down they are now going to be in serious financial difficulty and not just the kind of bother that every relegated club is in when their revenue stream shrinks considerably. Will be relying on sale of Marcus Bent & Co. plus probably all their lesser lights to keep things ticking over if they go down, which will make it fairly hard to get back up.

Guest Portly Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 The strategy of sacking the manager and appointing his assistant as the new manager (in this case on a long-term contract) always seems doomed to fail. If the assistant was that good, he would already have got to be manager, or moved to another club as manager. Even if he stayed where he was as assistant, you would think that if he was that good, his influence would have helped to avoid the club plummeting down the league.
