magneto Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I'm busy watching some local footy here in South Africa (Sundowns vs Silver Stars) and noticed that Peter Ndlovu (former Coventry striker) is on the subs bench for Sundowns. I recall him scoring a hattrick for City in 1995 at Anfield (I think they won 3 - 2). Anyway, is he the last player for an opposing team to score a hattrick at Anfield? Just wondering. Thanks
Fenderbaum Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Darren Huckerby got one in the FA Cup (1998?) I think.
Hector McDougal Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Didn't Viduka score 4 against us for Leeds? Might have been at Elland road.
magneto Posted December 20, 2006 Author Posted December 20, 2006 Didn't Viduka score 4 against us for Leeds? Might have been at Elland road. Yah was at Elland Road.
anny road Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 they had to unscrew ruddocks legs after ndlovu had finished with him
The Hitman Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 On his day,an utterly brilliant player,Ndlovu was.I used to love watching him. One of those average players who could all of a sudden, look world-class.
Guest Kev Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Ndlovu was watched by us on many occassions.
Guest Kev Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 The brilliant Kevin Lisbie? At The Valley.

One of those average players who could all of a sudden, look world-class. These days he's the Zimbo Shevchenko. As in massive pay cheque, on the bench mostly and hasn't scored for a while.

Thanks You would be correct. Wasn't he the first and only player to do so?
Ramón Benítez Hernández Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Ndlovu was awesome. I remember him ripping South Africa to shreds in an African Nations qualifier when he first came onto the scene. He was just a kid. Boyhood red as well.
12twelve Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 The first 'opposition' player to do so was Ndlovu. The first 'away' player to do that was Staunton.
magneto Posted December 21, 2006 Author Posted December 21, 2006 So the first and only player to do this at Anfield is Ndlovy? In our 114 year history no one else has scored a hattrick at Anfield????
Jim Price Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Ravanelli on his debut.Last opposition player to score a hattrick at Anfield?
Herbie von Smalls Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 The first 'opposition' player to do so was Ndlovu. The first 'away' player to do that was Staunton.eh?
berdoing Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Is Staunton otherwise known as the 'Wigan question'?
magneto Posted December 21, 2006 Author Posted December 21, 2006 Ravanelli on his debut. Wasn't that a 3 - 3 draw at the Riverside?
johngibo YPC Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 eh? I think its something like he scored a hattrick for Ireland when Wales played a home friendly there.
Herbie von Smalls Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 I think its something like he scored a hattrick for Ireland when Wales played a home friendly there.must've been a sorry day for welsh football if stan scored three.
L19red Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 I thought wigan switched the away cup-tie to anfield and stan got a hatrick. Techncially we were still the away team. Its splitting hairs really, but he was an away player who scored a hatrick but obviously not an opponent

Will Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 So the first and only player to do this at Anfield is Ndlovy? In our 114 year history no one else has scored a hattrick at Anfield????I believe that Ndlovu is the most recent - and the first one since Cliff Holton for Arsenal in November 1952 Others to do so before include George Robledo (Newcastle United), Eric Brook (Man City), Dixie Dean (twice), John Boag (Derby), Alf Common (Boro) and Bobby Parker (Everton)
