why is it, that london teams spend their whole time complaining about derbies and how many they have to play? arsenal, spurs is a derby. fulham, chelsea is a derby. hammers, charlton is a derby. west ham and chelsea is NOT a derby.

By that definition, liverpool, man u, wigan, man city, and that other club would all be playing in 'derbies'.

Or is it another sky attempt to make it the bestest, most existingest, winner takes all, never to be missed derby live on sky when fulham play charlton?

Bristol City v Bristol Rovers

Manchester City v Manchester United

Notts County v Nottingham Forest

Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield United

Liverpool v Everton

Fulham v Chelsea

West Ham v Charlton

Arsenal v Tottenham

Stoke v Port Vale

Aston Villa v Birmingham

These are true derbies, clubs in the same town or city (or district in London's case). Are there more in England?

Glenda Hoddle, in particular, used to claim that it was harder for London clubs to win the league because of all the derbies. Nonsense it is.

So is Boro claiming to be in a derby with anyone.

Not the same city but I'd also add:

Pompey v Soton

How are these derbies?

West Brom v Wolves is the one I'd add. Most intense derby I've ever witnessed.

They just are. Bitter games those.

Leeds are f*cking horrible

True, true. Was at Leeds v Cardiff a few years back, that was scary. Think Leeds have calmed down a bit recently due to their s****ness, mainly scream at their own players.

Cardiff are a bad sort too.

Last time I went to a game at Elland Road Yeboah was playing for them. He was top scorer at the time and, 3 minutes in, he missed a half chance. Boos and monkey chants from his own fans! Horrible, horrible cn*ts. I'd love them to get wiped out by ebola or a nuclear strike.

Surely that's just like us v Man U - a bitter bitter horrible rivalry but not a Derby

Ooops missed the word 'England'

Both Liverpool and Manchester are two club cities though, so they've got their derbies as well. Where you have that hate filled rivalry between two towns or cities that are close together and don't have another rival within the same town, then to all intents and purposes it's a derby. Like with Pompey and Southampton, Luton and Watford or Norwich and Ipswich.
