Benitez Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Pepe- 7, he was spot on with the little he had to do! JAR - 5, I still don't think he's really playing well for us this season, maybe now Fabio is back - it'll be a kick up the a*** for him! Carra / Sami - 7, easy day out really. Finn - 7 - same old steady Gonzalez - 7 thought he was good first half I gotta say, and had a decent game all round. Gerrard - 8 stroll in the park that was for him Xabi - 8 another stroll in the park, he barely broke sweat and was class all round Pennant - 6 had his moments and was very unlucky not to score, but he really needs to use his pace and take the player on Bellamy - 9 triffic all round performance and deserved his goal Kuyt - 6 off the boil today, but still linked up very well with Bellamy, just didn't have the finish.
Maldini Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Bellers Bellers Quit it Reina 7 - had nothing to doFinnan 8 - great assist for the second, how any Liverpool fan can say Gary Neville is better than him I don't know. Fantastic playerRiise - 6 - off form at the moment, Rommedahl caused him problemsCarra - 8 - kept Bent quiet Sami - 8 - won everything in the airPennant - 6 - put a couple of decent balls in, but needs to impose himself moreGerrard - 8 - I've been impressed with his discipline since he's moved back into the centreAlonso - 8 - Consistently fantasticGonzalez - 6 - still settling in, looks a bit nervousKuyt - 6 - got into good positions, linked up well, but should have put one awayBellamy - 8 - a constant threat, ran their defence ragged
Benitez Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Bellers was great though, it has to be said.
Dominus Maximus Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 (edited) Bellers was great today, Edited December 16, 2006 by Flamingo Crouch
shanks59 Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 1.Bellamy 2.Alonso 3.Carra. We Created a Bucketload. Finishing and Ginger's defending, was Awful. Score Flattered Charlton
Andy-oh-six Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Bellers with a typical Bellers performance today. Surely Rafa will be happy with Bellers' display.
Bootle Buck Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 It's better than Phil Neal's "Carrer's"
Smith Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Finnan 8 - great assist for the second, how any Liverpool fan can say Gary Neville is better than him I don't know. Fantastic player Don't want to start a fight here, as I agree in general. However, he lost his marking twice in the second half. Almost cost us dearly.
Knox_Harrington Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Finnan 6Finnan 8 - great assist for the second, how any Liverpool fan can say Gary Neville is better than him I don't know. Fantastic playerJust don't get it. He was magnificent today. he's so unflustered - I think that's why he doesn't get the credit he deserves defensively. If he had to slide more often he'd be more highly rated. Makes Carra and Hyypia look better than they are.
baz2107 Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Finnan was superb today, and the reason he left his man free twice was because he was having to cover for others who had left men free in the centre, one of these was down to Riise being beaten too easily and everyone having to shuffle across and the other one of the centre backs wasnt marking, Finnan was jsut doing a good covering job
Maldini Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Don't want to start a fight here, as I agree in general. However, he lost his marking twice in the second half. Almost cost us dearly. No he didn't, he had to tuck in because Riise had gone walkies and the CBs were pulled over as a result. Just don't get it. He was magnificent today. he's so unflustered - I think that's why he doesn't get the credit he deserves defensively. If he had to slide more often he'd be more highly rated. Makes Carra and Hyypia look better than they are. Yeah, it's kind of a cliche that he's underrated, but games like today are case in point. It's this type of game that goes unnoticed.
Benitez Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 I don't think Finn will ever get much attention, but he's appreciated by the right people for the job he does. You'd be hard pushed to find a more consistent player for us over the last couple years. He's such a calm player and I wouldn't swap him for any right back in this league.
Cooger Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 I don't understand how everyone is giving Gonzalez a higher rating than Pennant. Don't think either were outstanding, but they provided good width and were better. Pennant put in some good balls into the box, especially from corners. I don't see how Gonzalez played any better.

He's such a calm player and I wouldn't swap him for any right back in this league.By his standards, I thought he had a dodgy spell earlier in the season (around the time of Galatasary at home) but he seems to have come out of it recently. He was excellent last week. I don't understand how everyone is giving Gonzalez a higher rating than Pennant. Don't think either were outstanding, but they provided good width and were better. I'd be worried if I were Garcia.
jlfb Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 I agree .....Pennant did well! I really can't comprehend the lack of appreciation. He's getting better over the games he plays. Hopefully, when he scores his confidence will soar and won't we .. as a team .. benefit! Gonzalez, was good but no better than Pennant. Give the guy a chance' eh?

Bellamy was my MOTM, but I wouldn't say he was magnificent. It could be argued that Finnan could have prevented Charltons best chances today? Could he and Pennant combine more effectively? Carra and Sami make Finnan look better than he really is

Sion Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Finnan magnificent? Give over. Steady is the only accurate word to describe him IMO.

Give the guy a chance' eh? more than happy to give him a chance, and today he was unlucky not to get a goal. My issue with him right now is his unwillingness to run at defenders and try and use his pace. I always thought that was part of his game! I'm waiting for him to use it a bit more first But to be fair to him, he's been showing more recently after going throug a poor spell.
