Gray - YPC Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Am I right in thinking we're defo away in the first leg, to be played Feb 20th/21st? And what is the most reliable and quickest website for getting it confirmed which day we'll be playing on after the draw? I need to sort things out with work and think thi will be an in and out job! And another thing... Do Lille play thier games in Paris still?

Gary Wolf Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I feel like it's going to be Celtic.Or do I simply want to feel like this?
Kopfaithful Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 (edited) which day we play on is nornally sorted within about 2 hours of the draw for the knockouts. i think they just need to sort out clashes such only having 2 games per country per night for tv and the likes of milan and inter not playing at home on the same night. Guest anfieldanfield Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 what time is the draw at? Usually around 12.30-1ish, isn't it ? Although there's a pointless and tiresome build up before hand.....
Kopfaithful Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Usually around 12.30-1ish, isn't it ? Although there's a pointless and tiresome build up before hand..... i think sky were advertising it "from 10.30", which means the draw will be sometime adfter 11 i guess. although knowing sky it could be after 2 or something.

Guest anfieldanfield Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I want to avoid Madrid and Barca, anyone else I'd really fancy our chances against. Lille would be a gift, Celtic would be more difficult than many imagine.
M4TTA Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I'm sure it'll be on the uefa site got it now bbc have it now too: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/6179527.stm
M4TTA Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 bbc says the draw is at 11 gmt??? bit wrong shirley??
Tobes Rafa Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I want to avoid Madrid and Barca, anyone else I'd really fancy our chances against. Lille would be a gift, Celtic would be more difficult than many imagine. I don't understand this line of thought. I honestly want Barca or Real. Not necessarily because I think we'll beat them - more because I think we play better when up against the best teams. When we won the CL we did it by beating Chelsea, Juventus and Milan. When we won the FA Cup, we did it by beating Chelsea and ManU. I have no doubt we raise our game when we are the "underdogs". Remember we drew Benfica last year and everyone was thinking "yes, we've got the easiest team left in the draw!" or saying what you have said about Lille or Celtic. Look what happened. If you want to win thses competitions you have to beat the best teams - if you go out against these teams then there can be no shame. If we were to go out to Liile or Celtic after underestimating them like we did Benfica then there would be plenty shame. That's just my tuppence.

Some valid points mate, and I can see where you're coming from, but I'd still prefer Lille over Barcelona. If/When we reach the last eight, you know you're going to get a massive, high profile draw then, so in the last 16, if there's a chance to player 'lesser' opposition, I'd take it. Remember Leverkusen in 2005, they were absolutely awful, we breezed past them and built up some confidence for the latter stages.
Serko Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 bbc says the draw is at 11 gmt??? bit wrong shirley?? UEFA have it down as 12 cet so 11 gmt is right.
