sean Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 and 16 off Manchester. To be honest, if it was Chelsea at the top I'd say the league was over. They're now in aposition where they've to catch up and whilst United look good, their first 11 and probably 2 subs have what it takes the rest are average. I can see them coming back to the pack. It'll take a monumental run on our part but if we can reel of 8 - 10 games will it be enough get us back into it?
Falconhoof Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Assuming we win every single one of our remaining games, which 6-8 fixtures will Man U lose or draw ?
sean Posted December 11, 2006 Author Posted December 11, 2006 Assuming we win every single one of our remaining games, which 6-8 fixtures will Man U lose or draw ? s***, that's not a nice way of seeing it. Optimism crushed. They could quite concievably lose against the us, Arsenl and Chelsea, but then so could we.f*** it.
Gilps Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 We'll be doing well if we can reduce the deficit by any more than half what it is at the moment.
shanks59 Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Our record against the top teams (yes we should have beaten Chelski, but didn't), means we are where we deserve to be
Chewie Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 s***, that's not a nice way of seeing it. Optimism crushed. They could quite concievably lose against the us, Arsenl and Chelsea, but then so could we.f*** it. I may be wrong but Utd have to play us, Chelsea, a*** and City away from home in the second half of the season...we have the reverse in that all those teams (swap bluescum for City) have to come to us.... ????? anyway - even if Utd drop all those points I don't see both Chelsea and Scum dropping enough to drag anyone else into the race - nor do I see anyone going on a run of winning every game between now and the end of the season to even think about coming close... If i was in Utd's shoes at the mo I'ld be well happy but nervous... Fergie keeps saying that Chelsea have never been in this situation before (chasing) but then neither have most of his current United team (leading). Neville, Giggs, Scholes and Fergie will be key as to how Roaldo, Rooney, Saha, Ferdinand et al handle the pressure - they've never been here before
kacangpool Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 remember for the last 2 seasons we did it the hard way to win 2 cups, against all odds. it'd be the same this year for the pl.
fyds Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I don't think we can do it now, but hey - it can be a strange game sometimes.
JohnnyH Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 The efforts at blind hope here of people thinking we can still win the league is not just daft but bloody embarressing when you consider the fans of other clubs who visit these forums. We are far to far behind Chelsea, never mind Man Utd at this stage. I appreciate people trying to be optomistic, but this is just crazy.
fyds Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I think you'll find most of us siad 'no', or 'doubt it' while in my case at least at the same time saying effectively we're less than halfway through the season yet, so weird things may yet happen. As for fans of other clubs - who gives a toss?

Was it not blind faith that won us the European Cup and FA Cup? As someone in this thread has already mentioned, 'stranger things have happened'.

JohnnyH Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Was it not blind faith that won us the European Cup and FA Cup? As someone in this thread has already mentioned, 'stranger things have happened'. Yeah, 2-0 down to West ham or 3-0 down to Milan is the same as been 16 points behind Man Utd and 8 behind Chelsea (realistically 11 after Wednesday night) Stranger things have not happened.
_00_deathscar Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Being 3-0 down to Milan is far worse than being 16 behind the Mancs or 8/11 behind Chelsea.
Rich Gobey Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Being 3-0 down to Milan is far worse than being 16 behind the Mancs or 8/11 behind Chelsea. cue un-winnable argument.
JohnnyH Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Being 3-0 down to Milan is far worse than being 16 behind the Mancs or 8/11 behind Chelsea. No it is not. 3 quick goals, or a major defensive lapse by a team is not going to see us haul back 16 points. We will know this when we don't win the league this year. I would love it to be possible, but it's not and you are fooling yourself if you think it is. We have to win every single game left this season and hope that Utd loose 6 of theres or (Which I think is a lot less likely) Chelsea have to loose 4 of theres.

realtarragona Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 We can only get 91 points if we win every single game from now until the end of the season (meaning a run of 23 straight league wins). And even then it wouldn't be guaranteed.
Cobs Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Being 3-0 down to Milan is far worse than being 16 behind the Mancs or 8/11 behind Chelsea.ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no, it isn't.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 if we win all our games, we will win the league, I am sure of it. If we find our feet now it's not unrealistic to aim for overtaking chelsea which imo is what we should be looking at. And then of course making blood sacrifices to dark gods to try and make ManU implode.
