Wigan boss Paul Jewell claimed his players were affected by Chris Kirkland's injury:

 

"He went into delayed shock at half time, and I've never seen anything like that.

 

"There were six or seven paramedics around him, and I was trying to keep our players calm as he was taken to hospital.

 

"They were obviously concerned about him in the second half, but he thankfully appears to be okay."
