I've just spotted this on This is Anfield.

Thought it should be shared and passed on...

We are currently urging all Liverpool fans, particularly those based in USA to boycott the Fox Soccer Channel?s ?Fox Football Fone-In? show following comments made by one of it?s presenters on Tuesday?s show.

Co-presenter and Chelsea fan Stephen Cohen accused Liverpool fans of ?directly causing the worst two disasters in English football history.? He went on to say that he?s sick of Liverpool fans ramming their success down his throat and that ?there?s a disgusting side of Liverpool?s history that I?ll be happy to talk about.?

Cohen was of course relating to the Hillsborough and Heysel disasters, and apparently this it not the first time he has made such slanderous and ill-informed comments on national television. Seemingly he ?joked? Liverpool should have 39 coffins on their badge to go with the 5 stars.

Cohen?s comments were aired live to a nation which is being educated about the game of soccer and particularly about the history of the English game. Most of it?s audience would be young Americans wanting to learn about English teams and their traditions - unfortunately many will instantly tarnish the Liverpool name due to Cohen?s comments.

We have written to the show, and Fox Television for which it is broadcast and are yet to receive any reply. We hope they will take action and remove this ?presenter? from his prime time TV slot where he continually mis-leads his easily lead audience.

We urge all Liverpool fans to email fff@foxsoccer.com and

3-0 Everton and you still murdered 39 at Hysel and 96 at Hillsborough....there's your [oops] history.

EVERTON, EVERTON, EVERTON, EVERTON EVERTON.

So you have played 3 games and dropped 5 points...all is right with the world,

I find it quite hard to believe that a human can actually write this.

If your such a football fan that you claim to be, then you would know and have read up that the allegations claimed by 1 paper in particular is completely false.

To write this about people who didn't kill their own, who didn't kill others, who were victims of bad policing, bad ground staff and bad organisation, is quite disgusting.

Perhaps you should spend your time, rather than writing droll like this, to actually learn what happened in both cases and actually think, how you would feel if it was a member of your family or even yourself, that was killed/crushed to death, by people who just wanted to watch the game we all love.

It's sad, when you have to find yourself, writing this sort of stuff, to i don't know, get 1 over people or something, i'm not sure what you actually get out of calling people murders when they so clearly weren't.

So, i'll leave you to screw this up, delete or whatever you will do with it, but just think next time please about what you write, it could have effected a person you actually know.

this was (from what I've been able to find out - and I contacted Steven Directly) part of a private email conversation - not a public broadcast. However when it was made public he immediatley apolgized for what he said, withdrew the comments and made a donation to the HJC. He also made an apology live on air on the program (even though the comments were not made on air).

Whilst he was totally out of order in what he said as soon as people complained he has done pretty much what he can to make up for it.

This is a few months old. Can someone please post what happened on This is Anfield before he gets bombarded with emails over this subject again. I even have the transcript of the live on air apology if anyone feels they need it.

don;t think anyone s going to deny that.

however he has already put his hands up, apologised on TV and donated money to the HJC. Pursuing him again for the same incident would only make us look like c****.

he may have apologised, he still shouldn't have made such insensitive, 'joke' comments at the expense of the dead on national tv.

Clearly a tool, but if he did make these comments as part of a private e-mail, it's very different than had he genuinely said them on national tv. On National TV one has a responsibility not to be grosely offensive and insensitive, not to mention slanderous. This is not the case when it comes to private e-mail, and if he has offered a full apology and $1000 for what he said - in private - then this should probably be the end of it for now.

As catinthehat said it was part of a private email exchange that was made public. It wasn?t made on TV and nor did he repeat it on TV when he made the apology.

with the things he reportedly said on live TV

My Apologies.

I thought this was referring to a few months ago when he made comments and that this was being regurgitated ? as thing tend to do on the net?but its not.

After apologizing and donating to the HJC he gone and done it again.

I?ve emailed him and challenged him to read the HJC site and read ?Hillsborough:The Truth? and then talkt o me about it. I?m more than willing to talk to him about ?Liverpools dark past? then.

Something like that. I could call him but I?m still thinking about that. Whilst he claims to want to have an ?open forum? about Hillsborough and Heysel and I?m all for education I get the feeling that he?s more interested in using this as an exercise to get more listeners than he is in genuinely discussing the subjects in hand.

I?m not sure how to proceed.

I'd suggest corner him on it.

First, it was his offer. If he refuses, then he's a liar.

Second, while the chance of "more" viewers is plausable...there is also a chance that based on how he responds he will lose further viewers. Does he get back those that no longer listen? Or will he risk a further email campaign to FSC, Sirius, his advertisers, the whole lot.

Ultimately, the question is--what is Stevens opinion and what will he continue to tout on air as the "truth"?

That is the goal, to educate him. But failing that he can suffer the rath.
