I thought Fig said that he was going to leave Sevilla in the summer

Sevilla warn Chelsea off Brazil full-back Alves (Soccernet)

Sevilla sporting director Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo insists there has been no contact with Chelsea following reports linking the Premiership champions with full-back Daniel Alves.

Alves has been the source of much transfer speculation with Primera Liga rivals Barcelona also linked to the 23-year-old Brazilian.

However, Verdejo is adamant that neither club has approached Sevilla, while he also revealed they had reached an agreement with Alves about a new contact.

Verdejo said: 'I have not received any offer nor any call from (Roman) Abramovich, from (Jose) Mourinho, or anybody from the English team.'

And of Barcelona's supposed interest, Verdejo added on Radio Marca: 'There has been no contact with Barcelona, either now or in the summer.'

Liverpool were also keen on taking Alves to England last summer, but Verdejo is adamant the attacking full-back, whose current contract runs out in 2011, is committed to remaining in Seville.

'In fact we will make his contract renewal public in the next few hours, since we have reached an agreement,' Verdejo said.
