let me start by saying last night (esp 2nd half) he was woeful......And he lacks bottle, in fact I am thinking that will be his biggest downfall at this club...

However, he is a confidence player and cheering his substitution was a f***ing disgrace, a similar thing happened to Murphy..

WTF people think they are acheiving by this i dont know.......

he will play saturday and he knows the crowd dont want him to

i hope he sticks the proverbiasl two fingers and do what Danny did when he was subbed when taking a corner kop end and the crowd cheere...he scored the winner the following Weds at old Trafford......So lets hope Wigan are on the end of it

Agree with you in principle but he shouldn't play Saturday. He lacks so much bottle it's astonishing.

i suppose he may got 3 at the back with Alonso coming back

so maybe...i wouldnt play him if there is a viable alternative

he is out of his debth. He needs to get back to basics. Beat the man, cross the ball. not beat the man, stop, try and beat him again, lose it, fall on his a***. i dont think the lad is helped by the fact that our strikers are dropping back so deep to get the ball, that when he has it there is no one to pass it to

He was poor - but anyone applauding him off was a disgrace

I think he has shown glipses here and there that he can become a good player - but he's taking a while to bed in - it's a bit unfair on him - new player in a new position and he's reliant really on others playing to their potential - but with others being out of form and poor also - this makes him look even worse - there just seems to be a total lack of confidence throughout the whole team and we haven't got anyone there that can get things going - get people motivated and inspire others to lift their game - the whole side from midfield forward (With the exception of Kuyt most games) is totally off the pace.

Totally agree Anny

I think the poor lad's problem is the weight of expectation he's putting on himself. He's playing for the club he dreamt of playing for as a kid, he desperately wants to do well - as a result, he's put himself under immense pressure before The Most Knowledgeable Fans In The World step in with their size nines

I'd play Bellamy there. He's not getting in behind and his best work for Blackburn allowed him to pick it up and run at defenders. Play him right but high up the pitch as United use Ronaldo. Trust Finnan with Gerrard covering across defensively and free Bellamy up to get it and run.

i wasnt saying he should play btw

I hate to say it but there were more then a few people here who said the lad wasnt good enough and they were shot down very quickly, I never saw him have a single really outstanding game whilst I had watched him previously and unfortunately by the looks of things he appears to be a flop, an expensive flop

Maybe in the minority, but I always had huge respect for Danny Murphy. He copped huge criticism, but he always improved and worked on his game, always contributed, always hungry, made the best of th eability he had.

Pennant's almost the exact opposite - the skill, touch, pace are all there, but he won't use them.

I seriously doubt the crowd turning on him will motivate him in a good way.

ddiferent argument

my point is cheering him off is a f***ing joke

He's talented enough to play for us, the problems are in his head.

That's a major problem though isn't it? I'm right in the head to play for Liverpool but not talented enough - should I play? He's never been right in the head and I don't understand why so many thought it would be different here.

He has shown nothing all season and has played in more or less all our games. I think people are making excuses for him. He is not good enough and never will be, money wasted by Rafa imo.I agree with Knox stick Bellamy out there for a few games put Pennant on the bench and come summer on the transfer market.

The lad got his So-called dream move to Liverpool from the Championship. He has been given many channces alraedy this season. However, he does the same things game after game. He hasn't improved since he came here. I don't see any sense of urdgency to prove himself rather a player wandering around with no real game plan.

FFS he's a winger yet he doesn't stay out wide and rarely takes his man on or use his skill and pace. We don't need another CM who passes the ball square three yards we need someone to tear @rse down the wing and supply some dangerous crosses. Rafa can not afford to keep playing him without seeing some results from him.

Please lets not play Carra in midfield again. He did ok last night, but he clearly is not used to playing in there, it all looks so laboured for him, he is a centre half play him there or don't play him at all.

Arjen Robben, Joe Cole, Christian Ronaldo, Dirk Kuyt, Andrew Johnson all seemed to have "bedded in" quite well at their respective new clubs as soon as they joined.

Pennant is a right-winger. This is his bread and butter and he is constantly failing to do so.

He is just not good enough for LFC.

Joe Cole, Christian Ronaldo,

Did they indeed. I don't remember that. I remember Ronaldo being wildly inconsistant and the same with Cole. Both showed more potential but Ronaldo has only really fully bedded-in in this calendar year.

I don't think we're playing with any centre halves under BB's system. It's certainly adventurous.

I expect a sudden improvement in terms of our home form.

These witch hunts do my head in. Plenty of players go through spells where they are struggling to demonstrate why a manager of the class of Rafa Benitez had faith in them initially - and some may indeed never live up to the manager's expectations - but booing players or cheering their departure just makes our fans sound like class-less c****.

Not sure if Benitez had that much faith in him as he originally only wanted to pay around £3m which would have been more of a gamble but as time grew on there seemed to be no better option and Brum raised the stakes... Bet bruce eas ecstatic!

£3m even would look 2 much at the minute

Nunez was better

Pennant doesn't try. His work rate is low and he's a bottler. I'm not one for booing ever, but I have no issue with players who don't give 100% getting s*** and Pennant does not give 100%. People work their nuts off all week to afford to go the match and it's an insult when the 11 players on the pitch don't work their nuts off in return.
