anny road Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I was very very down coming out of the game last night.......it wasnt that we drew, it was the lack of invention and creativity that was stark after sleeping on it, i am calmer but still there are certain issues that need addressing The lack of a midfield didnt help us, whilst Carra did very well (esp 1st half), in the second he was basically sat in from oth the 2 centre halfs, not his fault he isnt used to playing that role, and his natural instincts took over.......also, Gerrard was far more conservitive in his play, I think as a result of this..however once the 2nd half started and we knw that they were not going to bother coming out of there half, the shackles could and should have come off the pair of them, and they didnt.......and actually the substutions made this wors as when the two kids came on, Gerrard dropped even deeper. The lack of a becnh was stark too..robbie is in a no win situation....he cant keep coming on for 10 minuites here and there as he will never get sharp, so last night was no use...it is a vicious circle. The more I think about it the subs were a mistake imo (I know, I know I would moan at people for saying that )....Garcia and Crouch would have been more use the longer the game went on and the mor direct we went...... too many players were off there game also The opposition have to be looked at too......since Sunderland here a few years back (same result) I cant remember a more cowardly performance.....and there antics in injury time were a disgrace....... rant over onwards and upwards
Knox_Harrington Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I was very very down coming out of the game last night.......it wasnt that we drew, it was the lack of invention and creativity that was starkWe've no guile if Garcia doesn't produce and it's quite a problem. Last season Kewell held a position, could beat a man, was intelligent and offered a certain amount of guile but now we miss him hugely and haven't that same intelligence from either flank. There has to be pace from deep, that's how United are hurting teams who sit deep, and there has to be an element of cleverness.
CarraLegend Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Harry Redknapp all week has been "We'll go there and give it a right go, we dont know any other way" etc etc. If we offered them a penalty with 0minutes to go they'd of probably said no as they were so happy with a point. Fair play to them for coming to a team with an incredible home record and getting a point but it was a bit embarassing the way they done it, not that they'll care I suppose. On the stuff regarding us, I agree, we missed our pace Bellamy, Gonzalez, Sissoko and Alonso's passing badly.
Maldini Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 How did the young lads do when they came on?
anny road Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 How did the young lads do when they came on? lads who sat in the paddock were saying that Rafa was giving Finnan and Carra a b******ing for not passing to El Zhar ...he didnt touch it for 10 minutes Guthrie looks ok
Knox_Harrington Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 How did the young lads do when they came on?Guthrie looked good. The other lad whose name I can't spell looked like a young lad - eager but muscled out.
sutty Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 You cheeky b*****d! (re the Garcia and Crouch thing)
Lou Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Guthrie looked good. The other lad whose name I can't spell looked like a young lad - eager but muscled out.I thought Guthrie did well and appears to have the physique to compete at this level. The other lad (whose name I can't spell either) looked a bit lightweight though it would have helped if he'd been given the ball occasionally.
anny road Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 You cheeky b*****d! (re the Garcia and Crouch thing) no i said on reflection..which I said during our conversation you dullard
Maldini Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Guthrie looked good. The other lad whose name I can't spell looked like a young lad - eager but muscled out.He is a bit lightweight alright, he looks like he's very talented though from the little bits I've seen. Hoepfully he'll settle in. Did he play on the right?
sutty Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 no i said on reflection..which I said during our conversation you dullardOh aye. Why must you turn this forum into a house of lies?
Lou Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 <snip>...Garcia and Crouch would have been more use the longer the game went on and the mor direct we went......I'd have kept Crouch on but Garcia was woeful for the second game running and I couldn't see where any improvement was coming. His passing was awful and he was constantly knocked off the ball.
anny road Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 He is a bit lightweight alright, he looks like he's very talented though from the little bits I've seen. Hoepfully he'll settle in. Did he play on the right? yes...then swapped and went left and ended up playing whereever he wanted
Knox_Harrington Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 He is a bit lightweight alright, he looks like he's very talented though from the little bits I've seen. Hoepfully he'll settle in. Did he play on the right?Sort of. Then sort of left. It was all a bit messy by the time he came on. Attack versus defence stuff.
anny road Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 Oh aye. Why must you turn this forum into a house of lies? so I didnt say that Crouch maybe should have stayed on as he could have been an asset for flick ons etc at the end...?
sutty Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I'd have kept Crouch on but Garcia was woeful for the second game running and I couldn't see where any improvement was coming. His passing was awful and he was constantly knocked off the ball. It is frequently thus Then all of a sudden he pulls a defence splitting pass out of his a*** and we score.
FMac Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 (edited) The opposition have to be looked at too......since Sunderland here a few years back (same result) I cant remember a more cowardly performance.....and their antics in injury time were a disgrace....... Sitting down on the pitch as though injured, just because your boot has come off/fallen to bits, then expecting us to wait for him to get a new boot! How many times have we seen players play on after losing a boot, and putting it back on when the ball goes out of play or up the other end - not that the latter was ever going to happen. Disgusting. Garcia and Crouch would have been more use the longer the game went on and the mor direct we went...... I've thought this a few times. Kuyt hares around knackering himself (don't get me wrong - I appreciate it), yet when we bring someone on to launch balls into the box, Crouch is always the one that is taken off. I've been thinking that Rafa is showing confidence in the new striker like he did last year with Crouch, and that paid off, but I reckon Crouch will be getting the 'why's it always me?' thoughts, and we're losing points. sutty Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 so I didnt say that Crouch maybe should have stayed on as he could have been an asset for flick ons etc at the end...? I said that and you grunted maybe. I'm going to give you a shoeing next time I see you.
anny road Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 I said that and you grunted maybe. I'm going to give you a shoeing next time I see you. 1. you didnt....I did.....i distinctly said that Crouch could get flick ons at the end the longer we got2. You will die3. horribly
Bigal Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I said that and you grunted maybe. I'm going to give you a shoeing next time I see you. Only after Shaka is done with you
Mike Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 lets be honest.crouch was awful. garcia was awful.we weren't to know that the replacements could possibly be awfuller.that poor morroccan kid that came on, george weahs' cousin anyone?
Billy Dane Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 lads who sat in the paddock were saying that Rafa was giving Finnan and Carra a b******ing for not passing to El Zhar ...he didnt touch it for 10 minutes Thought it was ridiculous that he wasn't given the ball after he came on. He was in acres of space quite a few times and the ball was passed back into the middle instead of giving it to him. There was an ironic cheer on the Kop when he finally got to touch the ball. Thought Guthrie did more in the short time he was on than Pennant did the rest of the game. The way he runs reminds me of Steve Harkness for some reason.
CaptainXabi Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Kuyt hares around knackering himself (don't get me wrong - I appreciate it), yet when we bring someone on to launch balls into the box, Crouch is always the one that is taken off.I don't so much anymore. Kuyt's a good player but he needs to spend more time in the box - a lot more time. Rafa needs to sit him down and show him a video of Inzaghi.
