Leo No.8 Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 A very fair result I'd say. Remember Sammer - he was an unbelievable footballer, pure class on the ball. Shame he had to retire when he was still in his twenties, he could have gone on to 40 the way he played.

Before it was for European footballers only, since the South Americans, Africans, etc. already had awards for their footballers, but now non-Europeans are able to win the EUROPEAN footballer of the year award.
