BBC are running a story that FIFA reckon only captains should be allowed to talk to referees.

Something about it on Football focus tomorrow.

I've been saying for years it's the only ood thing about rugby and should be introduced in football.

kinda agree. Roopney should be sent off every game the amount of s*** he gives refs.

I also wouldn't mid them looking at the bonus point systemin rugby too. extra point for 4 goals scored at home & 3 for an away team. or something along those lines. encourage attacking football. worth an experiment at least.

There are many good things about Rugby

I've been to plenty of away games and stood anywhere I wanted and had chats with the home crowd

Never any trouble

sin bin would be great, and , the player who injures an opponent with a foul stays off the pitch until the injured player is ready to come back on.

Bad idea

To take out the best player - get your player to feign injury - bingo - your best player immediately penalised

Thats just ridiculous!!

It's worse than ridiculous. What's to stop someone going down under a Gerrard (for example) challenge, feigning injury and taking him out of the game.

brilliant move this if it's implemented properly. any player who swears at, shouts at or harasses the referee in any way should get an instant yellow card. do it again and you're off. it's really, really straightforward.

captains only can talk to referees and even then in a civilised f***ing manner. this would improve football massively right now.

How does it work in rugby? I never watch it, because I hate it & it's a s*** game.

Is a player literally not allowed to say a single word to the ref? Not even a "come-on ref"? Or how about if they're appealing for a fk which wasn't given or whatever?

One of the best laws from rugby was introduced into football and then stopped for some reason, and that was the ball was moved forward 10 yards following dissent.

I think only the captains speaking to the referee is a good idea, but I can't see it happening. Sky love all the argeuing, it makes for great viewing doesn't it ?

the players shut the f*** up and run away and get on with the game. the captain is allowed to speak to the ref but only in a formal and respectful manner. none of the bile-spitting, swearing and screaming you get from footballers.

the players have no reason to talk to the ref, they're there to play football, and that can be done better by concentrating on your own game rather than bleating and screaming at the referee because you've f***ed up and fouled someone.

unfortunately this is very true.

Bring in more retroactive video evidence re diving and cheating. It's hard for a ref during the course of the game to spot it all. It's not hard when you have 45 cameras to go over it after and ban the diving c*nts for 3 games

Just because you don't understand it doesn't make it a s*** game

The respect refds get in both codes could teah football a lesson

only the captain can talk then with respect...if a ref is talking to a plyer he will demand him to be stood upright and listening

if rugby players did what footy players do in an average match there would be abouit 6 sent off

Put a mic on the refs, accountability for them and it's discourage players from acting the c*** at them.

foul and abusive language is still supposed to be an offence isn't it? mic the refs up and then punish players for it, retrospectively if need be.

kinell. if you tackled Chris Kirkland you might never play again

it's a red card offence too. Can you imagine a ref being a stickler for it?

I think it's a move in the right direction too - kids at schools are taking their leads from what they see on the telly & going mental at school, or sunday league refs. It isn't worth the grief as a ref at the bottom end

The FA will never do anything about the swearing. Its called the WWF (of whatever the wrestling is called now) effect and is labelled as passion.

Same as shirt pulling and diving are acceptable too.
