Kenyon really is a deluded fvckwit.

Their even only about the fourth biggset club in that London behind Arsenal, spurs and West Ham.

Still a club that looses £130million and next year £180million, and then Kenyon says they'll be self sufficient with that dodgy fvcker in 3-4 years is not of sane mind.

KENYON WANTS CHELSEA HERITAGE

By Adrian Curtis, PA Sport

Chief executive Peter Kenyon insists Chelsea must continue to create their own kind of footballing heritage as he prepares for their clash with former club Manchester United.

The Blues, currently three points adrift of United at the top of the Barclays Premiership table, travel to face the league leaders in a game already being tipped as a possible title decider.

Kenyon moved from Old Trafford to Stamford Bridge in September 2003 and has since helped the champions to become one of the biggest clubs in the world both on and off the pitch - rivalling United in terms of financial clout.

But Kenyon wants to ensure that Chelsea continue to create their own kind of heritage - a task being helped by successive Barclays Premiership titles and numerous sponsorship packages.

Kenyon said: "Manchester United was built around heritage, whether it was the Busby Babes, the 1958 (Munich plane) crash, the 1968 European Cup final, or the Ferguson years, they have set the benchmark for English football.

"Chelsea's success was sporadic. We had not had that depth of heritage to fall back on.

"But we're based in London, one of the top three cities in the world, it was critical to get on-field success, we attracted I think the top manager in Europe, possibly the world, and we had to create success. Being different is in our DNA.

"The team is the best we've had in my three years here, and I don't think we've seen the best of it yet.

"We set our plan with a 10-year period and a five-year break-even. We've got a stadium that is 99% full every game, we've brought in new sponsors with Samsung and adidas, landmark deals, our fanbase is growing faster than any other club. Like everything we do at Chelsea it's an aggressive plan.

"The reality is that when we look at the type of players we've brought in, with the exception of Michael Ballack and Andriy (Shevchenko), they are young and will last for a long time. We're very focused on youth development and attracting the best youth to Chelsea."

We've got a stadium that is 99% full every game,

My Chelsera mates that go say thats the problem, it ain't. Too expensive, rarely that full, no real atmosphere, unlike when Raneiri was there.

Any club worth its salt, with any real history and support, doesn't need any of his/this kind of spin. He never came out with this sort of crap at United cause he never had to.

He should have referred to "the 1958 crash" "setting the benchmark for English football" a few times for the crack while he was there, though.

I read the interview in the Mirror today and it was almost like he was disappointed that Chelsea didn't have "a tragedy" that would boost their heritage.

No doubt the c*** would market it in some way if they did.

Deluded c***. Hope the tragedy he's longing for involves HIM in some way.

In losing Harding, who incidentally I saw that helicopter fly over my folks on the way to Bolton, and it crashed not far from where I lived and now live, they had a lot of public sympathy. Sadly a lot of that went out of the window simply because of how they act now.

The simple fact is that their heritage will not have any weight in respect for their success, both now and retrospectively in the future and I firmly believe that it translates the same elsewhere - sounds odd but the underdog mentality prevails a lot in football and what Shanks built may be surpassed by them in silverware but not in dynasty.

Had they kept Ranieri, oddly enough, I happen to think they'd have a lot more credibility as he brought some personality to the game and the club.

To me, as a fan, it's not what you buy but it's what you build and that's what's exciting in the game. Imagine a transfer window when you simply have a blank cheque book and can buy the best - no debates about how they'll do, no debates on how we spend the budget to best fit our needs, no ongoing debates about how/whether the manager is developing them correctly and their tactics, no true judgement or debate on anything.

That's why I kind of enjoy and will suffer and surf the waves of debate about our club as it makes me appreciate the experience of being a fan.

I look at Chelsea as being the Mickey Carroll of football. Loads of money and flash jewellry but at the end of the day what's inside of him, his heart and soul, is far less in value than the sum total of the clothes he wears and the houses he buys. This is what we mean when we talk about class. That's also why we have banners and an anthemn. It's because we are all part of the heartbeat and soul of the club, and we are part of it. Not merely an observer to some exhibitionist folly.
