I've got this sneaky feeling - based on nothing more than a hunch - that this is going to be a partnership that will prove itself in the centre of the park....I really am dubious about Zenden but now that the chips are down and both will get a run of games I wouldn't be surprised if this coincides with us showing some good form and winning games (our fixture list will help this by the way)...

anyway - nothing more than a hunch but almost precisley because its a partnership that no-one would have picked I reckon it'll work - both have something to prove in there and in a sense the expectation is off....

It's a nice balanced partnership and gives Gerrard more responsibility to be disciplined aswell as creative, as Zenden offers zilch in that respect. He does, however, keeps things ticking over, which is what you need in that position.

To be honest i think we're f***ed in the middle. Why oh why we let Didi go was beyond me in the summer never mind now.

why do people bang on about this

it was Didi's choice

he was told how much footy he would play and he chose to move

Lie to him and tell him that injuries will also aid him. I was absolutely disappointed with the decision. You always need a few old heads and he still had 25 solid performances for us in him this season I thought.

 Can't argue with that logic.

I agree... I think they compliment each other fairly well..

On another note, I know this has been said on here before but Bolo seems to be a really good guy to have around the team. When Gonzalez and Pennant were injured he was right over to both of them and gave Speedy a tap on the arm as he was taken off.. I know he is hit and miss on the field but I think he has a Gary Mac presence about him around the club,

I saw very little in Zenden's performance against PSV or Arsenal to think he's going to step up his game.

He's weak in the tackle, lacks pace, gets about one shot in 5 on target, can't cross, can't head the ball, too easily concedes posession. What are his strengths exactly ?

He's all we have and we got him on a free but i'd be in the market for a new midfielder as soon as possible. In fact, get one of the young lads in instead. Does Zenden's contract run out at the end of this season ?

Except Alonso isn't weak in the tackle.

Except he is.

Just tackling properly would be start and not going in half hearted, as that's how you get injured.
