"You're sh*t...and you know you are"

It sounded like a hell of a lot more than one person singing it on the telly. It's as bad or worse than when Danny Murphy got booed in my opinion.

The PSV fans showed an impressive command of English football songs. They also sang "you only sing when you're winning" and "your support is f***in' s***!"

Pennant seems to have assumed the role of whipping boy at Anfield, he was getting abuse from all over the place, particularly two Irish guys behind us who started barracking him as soon as he got the ball, before he even had a chance to do anything wrong. So much so, that a Scouser nearby suggested they go and support Linfield.

I thought Pennant had a pretty good game considering how heavily marked he was.

Yeah, I thought he was a threat in the first half, he suffered a bit in the second, but overall it was a good performance from him. Maybe the slower European pace suits him as his best games for us so far have all been in Europe.

Why would you think the PSV fans were singing it to Pennant?

Pennant needs to learn to take on the defenders and beat them. Lacking in confidence completely, not even the same player who plated for the brummies.

There were plenty of them, and they were pretty dedicated with the singing. They started a song that involved that continental scarf-twirling. During the course of this song, Gerrard stuck the ball in the net, but they didn't even pause in their singing and carried on regardless.

Big police presence outside the ground tonight, but I didn't see any sign of trouble.

He beat three men and got to the byline by some jinky legged miracle in the first half. Played well, but I agree with the confidence thing and we all have a duty in resolving that as fans. As a poster says above - he's the whipping boy at the mo.

We all wet ourselves when we sign a 'lifelong fan' and think that is enough to do the job. However, will the fan thing eat them up more than if they were a career player with a job to do?

Anyway, is it a coincidence that every ball he plays is always to the back stick? Especially with crouchy and dirk playing...

Rafa likes crosses to the back post and when they go wrong they look terrible but he wants it to the back post for a header back across goal which puts the defence on the wrong foot for an easy tap in.

The Arkles was closed, but a chink of light behind the curtains suggested that something might have been going on inside! ;)

There were choppers above and around the arkles for almost an hour after the final whistle. Soe chap mentioned that there was trouble between celtic and the mancs on Tuesday night.
