AJ The Red Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I know this is wishfull thinking but if these 2 lads are available in january parry should break the piggy bank and get them.We need new fullbacks finnan is now31 and wont last forever and although jar is good he aint good enough defensivly. Both and 17-18 strong and very importantly quick . we need to inject some pace accross the back .I know it would be a big outlay now for both but we would be covered in them area for years.Suly in time it would be well worth it. Good quality overlapping fullbacks with pace would make a massive difference to our team and if parry is too tight why not have a whip round on the forum
Leo No.8 Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 They are both extremely talented young full-backs, but already being full internationals at just 17 and 18, plus with them attracting the attention of the biggest clubs in England such as Arsenal and Chelsea they would command very hefty transfer fees. In particular I'd say Richards would hold a market value of in excess of £10m already. I agree both would be great signings, I said a couple of months ago in the general footy forum that Richards was going to be special and if there was any chance we should try to get him in, but now he's played for England his profile has gone through the roof and there's just no chance we'll have the kind of money required in January.
Mikey Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Richards is easily worth £10M, and Bale apparently has a £7M fee on his head come January. We won't og course but we should be looking for at least one of them.
Owen1978 Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Richards is easily worth £10M, 3m + Bellamy
Cunny Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 is Bale sound defensively?he gets a lot of praise for his attacking instincts and free kicks but can the lad defend?
ManxRed Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 3m + Bellamy Don't you mean £11M plus Bellamy?
cymrococh Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 (edited) is Bale sound defensively?he gets a lot of praise for his attacking instincts and free kicks but can the lad defend?Yes. he was MOM v Brazil until he was taken off at half time. He's scarily good. Edited November 17, 2006 by Paul Caruso
sutty Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 If Richards goes for 10 million then there is something wrong with the world.
Stevie H Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I would pay 14 million for himd'you want to buy a playstation 2?
Guest redfromtubebar Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 We haven't got a hope with either of them at the prices their clubs will be asking.
Stevie H Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 got one. Why steve, have you out grown it?you knows it. the PS2 belonged to stevie, who is no more.
Bootle Buck Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 The Chavs will throw silly money at them so no-one else can sign them.
Rimbeux Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 When do we ever make these kind of signings these days
Maldini Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 We might have an advantage with Bale, the guy who discovered him is now our academy scout
oran Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 i have to say i was very very impressed with richards on wednesday.ws it just me,or is he faster then robben??it was the first time i saw him play after hearing about him for quit sometime.i think he will be great for us if he is consistent, but i too think he will cost at least 10m and i cant see us paying that.as for bale,i never saw him so i dont know how good he really is,but just like richards, with chelsea arsenal and the scums in the race,i cant see us getting near them.
Internationinteroperability Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 £15m for both players (Bale 5, Richards 10) would do it, I reckon. But of course we haven't got any money. Any takers on Diao, Pongolle, Le Tallec, Potter, Cissé and maybe The Dude in Jan?
Guest BrianF Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 When do we ever make these kind of signings these days I don't ever remember us paying 7 million for a teenager before, even when we were big spenders.
_00_deathscar Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Reason #2 why managers look overseas: Agger - 5m.
Rimbeux Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 I don't ever remember us paying 7 million for a teenager before, even when we were big spenders. In 'real terms'
Cunny Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 what would the £250,000 we spent on Wayne Harrison in 1985 be worth now?
growler Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 arsenal won't sign them; they are english. not to mention eboue (sp?) and clichy they won't go to chelsea. if you were a young english player would you? (SWP and bridge as a reminder). Its really between us and the scum, and the scum would look good too. they also throw their money around. However, micah to united? not a chance! Lets throw in the fact that one of our legends (Hamann) is at city, and we have the guy who brought through bale and walcott at our club, and we may actually a chance at these lads.
