Guest Kev Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I would literally break the bank for him in January. I would pay just as much if not more what we paid Birmingham City for Pennant. That's all.
Gilps Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 If Alonso, Gerrard and Sissoko are all fit - where does he play?
Guest Kev Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Why? Because he would give us more quality to our midfield. Momo is out until Feb at least, he would be an ideal replacement but with the addition of being a goal threat to boot. And when Momo is back, the competition for places would be improved. I saw Kevin in Taksim Square singing his head off, I'm sure he would jump at the chance of signing for us.
Guest wezza Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Another above average signing instead of World Class - It all comes down to the money again, and we dont have enough to compete at the moment.
Coyler Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 He'd cost us World-Class money, if that helps.

What World Class player would you be looking at then ? Nolan may not be World Class but he would give his all for this club and thus make up the difference. Edited November 13, 2006 by Kev
Coyler Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Pity Ronaldinho wasn't in Taksim Square, he'd have been a great signing.
Guest Kev Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Pity Ronaldinho wasn't in Taksim Square, he'd have been a great signing. He's have to cut his hair first, feckin ponce.
Guest wezza Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 What World Class player would you be looking at then ?Dani Alves (I know he is a RB/RW). As for the CM position, off the top of my head I couldnt name one, but Nolan is not World Class (as much as I like him) and he wouldnt set the world alight.Hargreaves is a quality CM, but he wants to be a Manc.
sutty Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 We could pay a huge amount of money for Pavel Abbott from Huddersfield

honourablegeorge Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I would literally break the bank for him in January. I would pay just as much if not more what we paid Birmingham City for Pennant. That's all. I've seen it suggested that Zenden might be used in a swap. Two birds, etc.
Bigal Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 (edited) Sorry Sutty thats old hat. Its Gary Taylor-Fletcher now. Wooooooooooooooooooooooah Gary Taylor-fletcherwoooooooooooooooooooah gary Taylor-fletcher Edited November 13, 2006 by Bigal
realtarragona Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Another above average signing instead of World Class - It all comes down to the money again, and we dont have enough to compete at the moment. Benitez has still had plenty to spend so it's no excuse to where we are in the table right now.
Sion Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I agree with kev, Nolan would be a great buy. Signing world class players doesn't mean success, Alonso, Gerrard, Carragher - could all be described as that, and they're all serial underperformers. Nolan would be an excellent signing. A true boyhood red, unlike pennant and bellamy who look like they don't give a rats a***. He plays with amazing passion and commitment already for Bolton, imagine how he'd play if that was for us. Shame Bolton would want a bomb for him i'd reckon
crisps Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Hargreaves is a quality CM, but he wants to be a Manc. He would prob jump at the chance for playing for any top English team
Guest wezza Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 No your right, benitez has spent quite a bit, but he hasnt been able to push the boat out and get the players he really wanted. Its already been mentioned on here, he wanted Kuyt and Alves, but had to settle for one or the other and a cheaper signing, so we got Pennant. He would prob jump at the chance for playing for any top English teamEven if he would, we havent got the £15m-£18m that we would need to sign him.
Guest PaulMcC Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I don't think Nolan works any harder than Alonso or Sissoko. Plus he's slow so wouldn't be good out wide and he'd cost a fortune.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 (edited) He would be a very good signing if he were available at a reasonable price, say 5 mio like we paid for momo (and diao). Otherwise, we're well sorted in the centre. Edited November 13, 2006 by Anders Honoré
