Maldini Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 1. We were playing alright until they scored, we weren't brilliant, they'd had the majority of the possession, but we looked dangerous on the break and they hadn't really tested us. 2. Once they scored we seemed resigned to defeat. 3. Alonso was fantastic. I've seen others say in other threads that he should've gotten the ball forward more, but I think he did that, he might not have put it into the forwards' feet that often, but he got the ball out wide in attacking positions at least thirty times. It was the players who received the ball who f***ed up. I think me misplaced one pass the whole game. He worked his b******s off and won the ball back almost as much as Momo does. 4. The rest of the midfield were pathetic 5. Kuyt was great again, worked his b******s off and the only time we looked like creating anything in the final third of the pitch was when he was on the ball 6. Hyypia's distribution from the back was awful, Carra's wasn't much better 7. Pennant did alright when he came on, nice to see him beat a player, he still looks too much like a rabbit in the headlights though. 8. Andy Gray is in turmoil, he doesn't know which of his favourite sticks to beat us with; roatation, zonal marking or Gerrard in the middle. 9. Bellamy was onside, not that it matters 10. Carra should've been sent off 11. We're not going to win the league this season
windy city red Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 agree with all except the last two. carra first booking was never a frigging booking, he did feck all and henry decided to take a tumble. never expected us to win the title this season and the next.
Swipe Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Richard Keys seems to be enjoying stirring up the "Gerrard in the middle" debate even more than Gray.

He got it wrong with Bolo and Gerrard today imho.

dave Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Mt thoughts exectly if I wasn't full of ale, pissed off and inacapable of putiing a mtch report together
4411 Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 1. yup 2. agreed 3. Alonso was brilliant today, just need someone like robben/Giggs/Ronaldo/Ljunberg type player on the wings who can beat a man and put defenders on their backpedals. Alonso would love to spray the ball to those types of player. 4. I thought when Stevie moved into the center before the 2nd goal he was much more involved and started some good moves. 5. yup 6. Agger should've come back to the starting 11 as soon as he recovered from his injury. 7. He's just not good enuff for this level, he rarely runs at players and beats them, just cuts inside and passes the ball back. 8. hate Andy Gray 9. doesnt matter 10. yup 11. no way!

CaptainXabi Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 spot on Maldini, i thought was Xabi outstanding, he plays with such heart, a captain in the making if you ask meI didn't choose this username for nothing .
Coyler Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 1. This could have been about any away game against Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal under Rafa......I hear you. I was almost pissed off they weren't all over us. There's a horrible inevitability about away games. Just like there was a delightful inevitability for most of last season.
Tetti Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Just back fromm the game etc.. Stadium - it took me a few minutes to decide, but it is just as lovely inside as outside and the design really helps to magnify the sound - think how quiet it would be otherwise. Once in the first half they let out a roar and it was f'ing loud. Our support - lost the will at half time I thought. Especially embarrassing were the "f*** off Arsenal FC, you aint got no...." etc etc. And then "You've never won f*** all". No irony intended at all, they really meant it. I thought we were right in it until they scored. But then hysteria overtook me as we slid towards another fiasco at "Highbury".

Just like there was a delightful inevitability for most of last season. That sense of resignation is far too familiar. So familiar that it's almost shared by the supporters, which leads to a horrible vicious circle of non-enouragement. We don't seem to suffer from it outside the League, it would seem...
Maldini Posted November 12, 2006 Author Posted November 12, 2006 Oh yeah 12. We missed Garcia nearly as much as we missed Sissoko
Tetti Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Oh yeah 12. We missed Garcia nearly as much as we missed Sissoko Don't start me on that. Hopefully he was injured and not just dropped.

Don't start me on that. Hopefully he was injured and not just dropped.hes been injured since he called to come off during the bordeaux game hasn't he?
Internationinteroperability Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 The ref today was really great. The best we've had for ages in the league. He should have dismissed Carra though. But let's not pay too much attention to them small details

But let's not pay too much attention to them small details agree.... would have been interesting if he would have got a red card if we hadn't had all the 'Poll' stuff this last week.... but it was very reserved of him to let Carragher stay on... was amazed that Carra only had 1 yellow to his name this season.
windy city red Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 The ref today was really great. The best we've had for ages in the league. He should have dismissed Carra though. But let's not pay too much attention to them small details because it was a red card offense or because it should have been a second yellow? coz the first yellow to carra was bullsh!t, it wasnt warranted as he hardly touched henry.
Internationinteroperability Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 because it was a red card offense or because it should have been a second yellow? coz the first yellow to carra was bullsh!t, it wasnt warranted as he hardly touched henry. Because he had a yellow already. And the first yellow was fair to be honest. He didn't get the ball at all trying to tackle Henry (I think) in the middle of the park. Carra was poor in general today, as were the whole team. But the ref was great, no doubt.
windy city red Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 we will disagree on that then. henry was making a meal out of it. fwiw, i thought the ref was good too.
Internationinteroperability Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 we will disagree on that then. henry was making a meal out of it. fwiw, i thought the ref was good too. At first I thought the ref was wrong but the replay made me change my mind. I'm in the process of forgetting the match already, mind If only our team were as good as the ref we'd have no trouble winning
ZZZZ Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Watching the US version and that commentators and the ranting about Gerrard in the middle. Not a word about it last year when we were winning. Hes is not playing well and thats it. Plain and simple. The most dissappointing thing is like in the United game, the players gave up. Very dissappointing to see that. Apart from alonso and maybe reina, everyone else was below standard. I think that Carra is not getting the job done this year and that is having a major effect on the team

Alonso easily Liverpool's man of the match for me too. Can't understand why some people want to diminish his performance, it was one good thing out of a lot of bad things.
