Benitez Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 on his way to hospital. Dislocated shoulder they recon. Any more news, shove it in ere. Looked well bad for Momo. Gutted. Don't even want to think how it'll be without him.
Benitez Posted November 8, 2006 Author Posted November 8, 2006 I really really hope it's not a break at least, cos I had a horrible feeling it was a break up in the collar bone area or summet. Not that a dislocation is good like.... but you know what I mean.
Spike Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 it's ok. Key midfielder out for a while before Christmas... been there before
jfogarty Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 3 weeks out for a dislocated shoulder? Can take over 3 months to recover from but I fancy Momo to do it in 3 weeks
Alonso Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Can take over 3 months to recover from but I fancy Momo to do it in 3 weeksLooks like 2-3 weeks minimum for Momo then according to physio room Treatment It is important that a shoulder dislocation is seen quickly by a doctor who can put the joint back in place. This is because the position of the Humerus in a dislocated shoulder joint can cause damage to the Axillary nerve and the Auxiliary artery. This can lead to a loss of sensation and muscle strength in the affected arm. Pain relieving medication prescribed by a doctor can help to relieve the shoulder pain. Ice packs can be applied to the injured shoulder for 20 minutes every two hours (never apply ice directly to the skin). The ice packs relieve pain and reduce bleeding in the damaged tissue. The Aircast Cryocuff is the most effective method of providing ice therapy and is the professional's choice for shoulder injuries. It can provide continuous ice cold water and compression for up to 8 hours and significantly reduce shoulder pain and swelling. Once the shoulder has been put back in place it is immobilised using a sling. The sling is kept on for about 2 to 3 weeks, during which time it is important that the elbow, wrist and fingers are kept moving to prevent them stiffening up. Active rehabilitation is started as soon as possible but overhead arm movement and sporting activity should be avoided for at least 6 weeks. Gentle range of movement exercises under the supervision of a Chartered PhysiotherapistChartered PhysiotherapistA member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, signified by the initials MCSP. can be started once the sling is removed. Strengthening exercises for the Rotator Cuff muscles should be started as soon as they can be done without pain. These can be done at home using resistance bands. Because of the damage to the structures surrounding the shoulder, there is a high chance of recurrent dislocation. Surgery on an unstable shoulder is usually required after four dislocations. Find out more about surgery on an unstable shoulder. Following a shoulder dislocation and shoulder surgery many people find that a neoprene shoulder support helps to provide added reassurance. They also assist with shoulder stability by providing sensory input that improves shoulder proprioceptionProprioceptionThe mechanism by which nerve receptors in skin, muscle, ligament and joint tissue relay information to the brain about body position sense, where this information is quickly processed and movement strategies are formulated and executed using nerve signals to muscles..
Romario Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 A broken arm would probably be more simple to recover from than this. Hope he's back soon.Get well big man.
Romario Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 May have just separated ?? Maybe??Not sure what the difference is but if it means he's available sooner rather than later then lets hope so. It's a real dampner on tonight although we're doing a good job.
Redwire Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Looks like 2-3 weeks minimum for Momo then according to physio room That site says: "Active rehabilitation is started as soon as possible but overhead arm movement and sporting activity should be avoided for at least 6 weeks."
Sion Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I expect no sooner than 6 weeks. Poss up to 4 months if he's unlucky. You don't want to rush things like this as they can easily reoccur and be more serious
Sion Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 pin it, play him on sunday. Tommy Smith would have carried on.
Eskimo Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 pin it, play him on sunday. that an a couple of Anadin, sorted..
Nerik Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Looked bad alright. As others have mentioned it can be anything from a couple of weeks to a few months. Fingers crossed.
dyl Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Tommy Smith would have carried on. Yeah - but it wouldn't have been his shoulder - it would have been Liverpool Football Club's!
John Nada Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Not been the best week for him has it? Probably the same arm he used to hit that nob, I bet he's relieved there wont be more for the time being.
Bootle Buck Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Obviously the bluenose's eye in the chippy has weakened MOMO's shoulder.
Guest kring Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Rafael Benitez has admitted he expects to be without Momo Sissoko for a lengthy period of time after the Liverpool midfielder was stretchered off at Birmingham. The Mali international landed awkwardly on his right hand side after a challenge from Mehdi Nafti during the first half and the initial reports are that he has suffered a dislocated shoulder. "We are keeping our fingers crossed but I think it's serious," said Benitez after the game. "I can't say anymore at this moment because we are waiting for news. "We need all of our players and we know that Momo gives us wonderful energy in the middle of the field, but it's clear we could be without him for a long while." As far as the match was concerned, Benitez was happy to see his side record their first away victory of the season to secure their place in the last eight of the Carling Cup. "The players all worked extremely hard but it would have been easier for us if we'd taken our chances," he added. "We missed a penalty and had other clear opportunities and if we'd scored another goal it would have been a different game and easier for us." Liverpool will find out their quarter final opponents when the draw takes place on Saturday afternoon. Link
Sion Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 serious as in 6 weeks, or serious as in 4 months plus, or serious as in Kewell will be fit first.
DonRafa Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Gutted about losing Momo, put a dampener on tonight's result for me The only glimmer of hope is that Momo-recovery time seems to be a lot shorter than mere mortals' recovery time
