Walrus Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Seeing as my earlier post in the ticket forum got closed, could someone help me find a decent Addicks forum? I'm desperately trying to get some tickets for the CAFC-LFC match in December and it seems like there is no chance through the "normal" routes, so I'd like to ask the Charlton fans for advice. Any ideas appreciated...
ManxRed Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Can't help except to say that I borrowed a Charlton suppoprting mate's season tickets last year for the LFC match (Christ, what a great match it was too... ), and they operate a very very strict policy on booting out non Charlton supporters. I even bumped into Aldo in the bogs (I think he was doing radio commentary) at half time and sooooo wanted to say hello but had to keep my gob firmly shut. Damn!

stressederic Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Why the hell have they sacked him now?
RedMarauder Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Why the hell have they sacked him now? Peter Taylor to be sacked by Palace, he kisses and makes up with Hull.Dowie sacked by Charlton, as he kisses and makes up with Simon Jordan at Palace.Curbishley looking for a Premiership club after his prolonged break, still in love with Charlton and can't be arsed waiting for Newcastle job
Tosh Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Cos they were slower than most of us to realise he would be a complete loss.
Benzo-13 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Cos he's scaring off the women linespeople.
Stevie H Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 f***ing stupid sacking a manager 12 games in.insane.
Cam Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 He deserved it, he's worse than Ashley Cole. Still can't understand why Taylor turned them down in favour of Palace. I'd have thought he and Charlton were made for each other, very Curbishley-like.
Kindred Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 (edited) Wasn't Simon Jordan pursuing Dowie 'leaving' of Palace through legal means - it might have something to do with that. 5live rumour that Hoddle is lined up to take over. Edited November 14, 2006 by Kindred
Raj Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Basically they have panicked. At the beginning of the season, Charlton's chairman was taking about the importance of avoiding relegation this season, due to the increased windfalll from TV revenue next season. He added that they were increasing their transfer budget for this season to ensure that they avoided relegation. Not going to plan then...
Reggie Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Beeb Charlton appoint Reed as new bossLes ReedReed worked under Iain Dowie as his assistantCharlton have confirmed that Les Reed has been appointed head coach on a permanent basis, with Mark Robson named as his assistant. Reed was number two to previous boss Iain Dowie, while Robson steps up from his role as development coach. Charlton chief executive Peter Varney said: "We are probably looking for a third person to come in and help them." Plc chairman Richard Murray earlier said manager Dowie was sacked after a review of the club's structure. Murray said: "We had to consider if we believed our current situation would improve and we reluctantly came to the conclusion that it would not. "It is vital everyone works as a team in this situation. Unfortunately, I have to say that hasn't been the case." Dowie, 41, left Crystal Palace in May to replace Alan Curbishley - who spent 15 years as coach at The Valley. But Dowie won only two league games during his brief reign and Saturday's 3-2 loss at Wigan leaves Charlton at the bottom of the table with only eight points.
cymrococh Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Reed was number two to previous boss Iain Dowie, Harsh.
Tones Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 So the current setup wasnt working, so they sack Dowie and bring in his assistant, who was part of the old setup which wasnt working. Worse than giving McLaren the England job that is.
