Confirming the rumour posted 18/10/06 - I have also been told that Steven Gerrard is leaving at the end of the season, apparently to Barcelona rather than Madrid. It will be a straight cash deal rather than cash + players & Rafa will invest the money in English talent. From what I was told, Nolan, Richards & Bale will arrive along with one BIG name but the person who told me all this had no idea who that was (or woulnd't say!). He did let slip however that the player in question was not English.

Speaking with my brother in law who lives in Italy, rumours have started that Kaka is unhappy with life in Milan and wants to move in the summer (if not sooner) - Apparently, would love to come to the premiership and, his first choice would be Liverpool (has gone on record as saying he would never play for Chelsea). Would cost a small fortune, but as per my 'rumour' of the 18th Oct (which someone else has kindly confirmed), Gerrard will be off in the summer, and we should make enough from the sale to bring in Kaka, plus some quality young English talent, which I know Rafa is keen to recruit.

No body language shall be judged either herein. It's from dodgy rumours FFS - a site that would give Shakin Stevens some cred. Simply debate whether you'd be happy with this or not. f*** it, even post your formation threads :P

I was wondering how long all this was going to take to start up again now that we aren't winning and Gerrard hasn't been performing. I love it though when mates tell me that Gerrard doesn't look happy at the moment. I usually just ask them to go back over every season he has played and show me one point where he hasn't looked like someone has drowned his goldfish (apparantly it's possible if you pull them backwards by the tail)

Seriously though, as he will have one year left on his contract at the end of this season it would be sound business sense to ensure that he signs an extension or a new contract before he can walk away for free (see McManaman) or at a much reduced price (see Owen) If we can work out how long he has left on his contract then you can be sure those brainiacs at other clubs can too.

 

For sure they will all want him and I am also sure they will offer many euros to get him (see Henry). I am also sure that Liverpool would not like to sell him to a club in the Premiership. However I am haunted by the comments that Gerrard himself made in the programme on Sky. He mentioned that he could go and play for another team and win medals but when he finished his career who would want to see them?

 

He also stated that he wanted to stay at Liverpool, that he wanted to win things with Liverpool and who knows one day even manage Liverpool. I don't see what has changed in this short time frame. The club certainly won't make the same mistake and leave him feeling unwanted again.

 

These rumours are going to get stronger as we get closer to contract negotiation time. They along with leaked offers from other clubs are designed to put pressure on both Liverpool and Gerrard. The best thing our captain could do is what Carra did when he was asked if he wanted to sign a new contract and he said 'where's the pen?"

 

In other words I think its all b******s.

Does he not have 2 years left at the end of this season? Wasn't it a 4 year deal at the start of the 2005-06 season?

 

He'll have to sign a new contract next summer because we can't risk another Owen situation.
