Chelsea Football Club would like to thank all our supporters at Stamford Bridge last night for enthusiastically participating in the ?Flag Day? idea and helping to create a special atmosphere. Fans arrived to find 35,000 Chelsea flags distributed along the rows of seats and joined in the spirit by waving them on mass during the evening for a true blue spectacle. A pre-kick-off rendition of ?Blue is the Colour?, led by Chelsea-supporting opera singer Stuart Pendred, and the teams walking out were particularly colourful moments, as were the closing minutes of the game. Fans are of course welcome and encouraged to bring their flags back to Stamford Bridge time and time again.
JohnnyH Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) ....and please cheer NOW, and please sing this song at half time if losing, and please chant the players names, and please try and make us into a proper club and please try and gives us even a slight bit of credit in football circles. Truly a pathetic club if ever there was. Do you think there is any club that they are desperatly trying to be like? Edited October 19, 2006 by JohnnyH
Tosh Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 But the flags looked white on telly. Looked like they were all surrendering...
Benitez Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 From the Guardian: "Chelsea's flagging fans You would think the visit of the European champions would be enough to enliven Chelsea's supporters, but the club has become so concerned about the atmosphere at Champions League games that it has commissioned 35,000 blue-and-white flags to hand out before tomorrow's match against Barcelona. It is the latest example of a club attempting to manufacture atmosphere using gimmicks rather than leave the supporters to generate noise spontaneously, and Jose Mourinho has also pitched in, calling on fans to arrive early: "Please be at the game for when the players warm up and support the team with your flags. It should be a fantastic atmosphere."

RP Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 But the Chelsea fan at work who went to the game said it looked great. And that challenge on Cech was a disgrace, it looked like the Reading player was trying to kill him. Or something.
Guest Jack Bauer Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Hahahaha! He knows our secret...money can't buy you love Jose.
