Phil236849 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 did everyone else find the camera work last night abysmal. i presume it was due to local production. makes you appreciate how good ours isMainly: 1. The focus was too zoomed in, with the result on my telly that the ball-player was normally off screen, the ball just about on screen, and the focus on where the cameraman thought it would be going 2. Even then, as he was still too zoomed in, when there was a long pass, the cameraman would fail to react, and the pass would go off screen! 3. The cameraman/producer had a fondness of viewing attacking play from a side angle. i wouldnt mind if i had bought a ticket next to the corner flag and was soaking up the atmosphere, but if i'm watching on telly, i like to see my goal action from the view coming from behind the attacking team! 4. The cameraman/producer seemed nervy and there would be moments of quick switching between different angles all in all i felt it made it quite horrible to watch and i'm just glad it wasnt like that in a big match!
Gerry Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 French TV is always like that. They just seem to like that side-on angle whenever the ball hits the penalty box (for some reason). They also love their slow-motion clips of players talking/gesticulating/gobbing etc.
Bigal Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I had the same problem with regards to the players being off screen

Coyler Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 The feed to Setanta had an audio echo in it which was fecking annoying. PLUS, the f*****s switched to an ad at about 88 minutes and then came back to the wrong match (were Porto playing last night?) and we missed the Warnock chance.
Bigal Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 sorry coyler, I would love to have seen that, me dad screams at the telly when we are on, and he would have gone mental if he was watching the game and an advert came on during the match

PLUS, the f*****s switched to an ad at about 88 minutes and then came back to the wrong match (were Porto playing last night?) and we missed the Warnock chance. Is that what happened? I screamed at the little man (22 months old) of the house to leave the remote for tv alone and he looked at me all bemused before running off to tell his mother that "Dada go mad!". Got an earful from herself then for shouting at the child until he started trashing the kitchen.
Tosh Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I have a widescreen telly, and it was fine for me. All you need to do is get yerself a wider screen
hagi_complex Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I was watching it in widescreen on Sky and the camera work and director's choice of shots were indeed poxy. The camera was too low for a start. Sorta like televised games at Highbury when the action is on the opposite side of the pitch. The complete opposite of say games from the old Wembly or the Nou Camp.
Boca Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 That side angle camera was a pain in the a***. Every time one of their players got a head to the ball I was convinced it was going in the net.

Bordeaux were just breaking into our box as well Edited October 19, 2006 by Coyler
steviegw Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Yeah, I wanted to pull my hair out for a number of reasons last night, but the camera work did my head in.It was woeful. Players in possession were constantly off screen, and the lack of camera and angles made a poor game look even worse
cestrianred Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 It was gash I concur. That shot from side on to the penalty area was awful & consistently on view for far too long
Knox_Harrington Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I love to imagine some autuer type director calling these shots: Now cut to him looking up to the sky - oh the pathos, now...manager looking anguished...the relief on the opposition defender's face, every action has a reaction, yes, yes and now back to him shaking his head. Ahh. That's art. That's football.
McBain Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I had to set my tv to 16:9 and i still couldn't see the man on the ball half the time
