Vlad JNR Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 It came mighty close to us on Saturday. It hit the lad who sits behind me on the head, and its the closest i've got, which is strange as we'd only been having a conversation before kick off about the fact the the ball had bever come within 10 rows of us before. So, who's been twa-tted by the ball at the match?
Gunga Din Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 i caught it and threw it back against Galatasary. beat that!
AndyM Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Against Chelsea in the semi at OT last season, I was in the first row and, during the warm-up, Riise tried to control with his right foot and it bounced over to me. As I threw it back to him, I was gonna shout something about him being a rubbish ginger mong, but didn't wanna affect his confidence. As it happens, he scored the first and played a blinder. So I was glad I never called him names and changed the course of history, FOREVER.
Mad_Fer_It Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I almost had it when i was like 9, I was in the front row, and the ball fell right next to me, my dad didnt let me go and get it for some reason, to this day he regrets it whenever we mention something about that (Im 20 now)
Cam Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Once in 13 years. About 8 years back, v Sunderland, think Phillips had recently scored. Nearly broke my thumb on the fecker. They're dangerous - just duck.

allez les rouges Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I used to get into the old kop realy early. to get rid of the boredom the kop used to throw balls around. Anyway i got t****** in the face on a freezing cold day by a minature casey once. i had adidas on the side of my face for two days. does that count?
Chewie Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 girl I know went to her first football match on freshers week at Uni in Scotland. Anyway, ball came into the crowd and banged her one right on the head...she needed a metal plate inserted.... I'ld go with Cam's advice - duck!! YNWA Chewie
Vlad JNR Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 do you sit in the main stand near the away end? that happened just below us on saturday That is exactly where we sit! sit 273-ish? do you always sit there?
Billy Dane Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 My first game was in Feb 69 and I was standing on a beer crate peering over the wall at the front of the paddock. Callaghan booted the ball into touch and it came right at me. I ducked down behind the wall and heard it thudding into the other side of the wall.
Mike Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 That is exactly where we sit! sit 273-ish? do you always sit there?row 13 seat 268
Spike Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 when I used to go to Crewe games as Gresty the lion's mascot mate I used to get t****** by the ball all the time whenever I walked behind the goal. Players used to aim for us you see. Man City was especially fun as on the one side I was dodging being t****** by a ball and on the other side I was being pelted with bottles. Thank f*** for the giant cat head I wore
Atticus Finch Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Sheffield Wednesday away some time in the 90s. We were pressing for the winner and the ball got cleared into the stand where I caught it about half way up the stand. Matteo was waving for me to chuck the ball down so we could take the corner quickly as we were entering injury time. No pressure! Fortunately perfect throw to him, but unfortunately we didn't nick the winner as the whistle went pretty quickly after. That nights coverage on MOTD finished with the ball being cleared up the stand from the final attack, and they stopped the footage just before I caught it, the feckers.
Paisley Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 This happened to me in the Champions League quarter final against Leverkusen a few years ago. I was sat behind the goal in the Anfield Road end when Vlad had a header which went high and wide and I palmed the ball back towards the pitch. Lucky for me that the little Champions league winning superstar was rubbish at heading
Fenderbaum Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 In the Paddock (maybe) in the eighties versus villa. The ball looped up into the crowd and it was coming right near me when this lad in front lept up and headed it back, perfectly into the hands of the Villa centre back Alan Evans (I think). Evans looked up and said 'you're signed!'. Everyone laughed. Oh what fun. These days someone would probably have reported Evans to the police for being cheeky or something.

berdoing Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Does anyone remember when they used to kick the flyaway balls into the crowd before the game? I got one of those once. Off David Hodgson. My mate got belted in the face by the ball during the kick-in at Villa Park off David James. He wasn't looking at the time, and myself and my brother declined to tell him the ball was heading his way at speed. Such japes!
fyds Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 i caught it and threw it back against Galatasary. beat that!Same! But from Steve Heighway against Arsenal, kop end, circa 1976.
R A Softlad Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 In the pre-match warm-up at the Valley, a few years back, Collymore was testing James and the ball swang away to the right of the goal as Stan would have been looking at it. The ball was about to hit my mate Paul who was bringing our snacks and bevs, so I reached out and caught it with one hand, ensuring Paul and our grub remained intact and teaching James a lesson in one move. Stung like f**k mind...
Guest ivabigun Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Never mind a ball what about this poor c***!!!
Coyler Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 At the Carlisle Grounds in Bray following Bohs. I had just puked on the ground and my mates had sort of parted and moved away from me, as you do. Ball came out for a throw to Bray, so I hopped it in the puke and threw it back to their right-back.
