Can any of the Statisticians out there confirm that next weekend's game against Utd will be Liverpool's 5000th competitive game since 1892?

If it is, Is the club planning on doing something to celebrate this fact? Beside beating the scum that is

If you include in the three matches played 1939-1940 season when league football got abandoned you will reach 5000 against ManUtd.

Many statisticians don't include those three matches. That was for example the case when we played League match nr 4000.

I agree. TOP site. It has every game Liverpool has played online. Line-ups, Goalscorers and even subs in most cases. Wonderful Effort by those involved

And yet I only get to 4,998 with the Mancs - I think I need to check our sets of records....

Naaah, it's just me who hadn't woken up properly when i replied to the thread, we include those three extra matches in our total. But for example Ged Rea and those will want to leave them out for the total.

Talking about the match against the Mancs, isn't it the most watched, on TV, club game in the world? I'm sure Kenyon would argue that point

I was missing the 1906 Charity Shield and for some reason I have one less FA Cup game than you... some digging is required!

Manc mate of mine was saying there is something being laid on for sunday in recognition of this...he reckons, I dunno though, that our end will have some sort of display showing our trophies and a pre-match love-in arranged to try to defuse things after the recent 'goal re-enactments' and stuff.

He seemed quite certain but could have been the Erdinger talking.
