or something

Mourinho said Cech was lucky to be alive after Reading midfielder Steve Hunt's boot caught him in the side of the head...the challenge is a disgrace. I'm not sure if he's a Catholic, but...to be alive is a bit lucky. I think it was that bad." said Mourinho...

The Chelsea manager claimed that Hunt deliberately fouled Cech and even claimed he was laughing about it later.

"...the boy was even laughing afterwards. It was unbelievable and players should respect each other more than that..."

Please die Jose

Wow he must worry so much for Drogba every 5 mins then. He goes down as if taken out by a shotgun all game.

The catholic bit is not reported in full there, it bats on about going to see some icon in Portugal, not being catholic I don't know what icon he's on about, but apparently gobby felt Cech should go to thank it for still being alive.

Perhaps he ought to look at what the groundsmen have been up to on that pitch over the lat two weeks, dumping tons and tons of sand on it. Been upteen reports of it in Spain with the Barca match coming up.

Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Petr Cech was transferred to the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford last night (Saturday) to the specialist neuro-surgical unit.

He underwent surgery for a depressed fracture of the skull.

The operation was successful but it is too early to give an accurate assessment of his condition.

Naturally everybody at Chelsea wishes Petr, and Carlo Cudicini who was discharged last night after being knocked unconscious, a speedy recovery from their injuries.

Chelsea FC has reviewed the video of both incidents. We endorse the post-match comments of Jose Mourinho regarding the seriousness of these incidents.

Chelsea will be writing to the Football Association with our observations.

I think Jamie Redknapp's view on the incident was spot on. The player could have hurdled Cech, but there's no way a player would want to seriously injure another.

Chelsea are slime but Cech is no doubt a good bloke - wouldnt wish that on anyone. Hope he 's ok - anyone got a link to the incident so I can see it for myself?

there was no way the reading player went in to deliberately harm cech, that's mourinho talking out of his hoop as per.

best wishes to cech for a quick recovery though, he seems a decent sort.

i heard Mourinho's after match comments before i saw the incident and i thought he was over-reacting as usual.. i've seen it since and i really don't think it's THAT bad a challenge..

Cech collects the ball and the momentum of Hunt carries him on BUT his legs dip (so basically his knee goes into Cech's head) and he makes contact.. if it was his foot left in then its just comething you see in virtually every game but the fact it was his knee leads you to question whether it was intentional..

regardless of the fact i don't think it looked that bad - i haven't seen it sober ;) - i hope it's not as serious as it obviously sounds above and he has a quick recovery.. it's not a nice thing to happen to anyone..

It kinda looks like Hunts left leg begins to give way a little and he begins to fall as he stretches and his momentum means that his right knee then drops and catches Cech.

If he wanted to kick out at him he would have used his foot IMHO - catching somebody with your knee always leaves you open to being hurt yourself.

saw it live yesterday and it looked bad in real time. in the replays you can see that the Reading player did not aim to hit Cech, but his knee gave way and caught the keeper.

the incident with Cudicini was nobody's fault, he went for a ball and landed badly.

it is hard to see how keepers can receive more protection than they do at the moment. almost any challenge on a keeper results in a free kick for the keeper's team.

hopefully, Cech will come through this OK as he is a decent keeper and does not appear to be on of the mouthy Chavs.

as for the rest of the game, Chavski were lucky to have 9 men on at the end. Essien was his usual thuggish self, and a diving fool. Drogba managed to get a guy sent off for nothing and Mikel behaved like a 5 year old when he got his marching orders. I wonder if the Chavski letter will include any of those "observations."

if the sand bit is true, Barca should come out with buckets and spades before the kick off and hand them to the Chavski players.

wishing peter cech the best of recovery. ynwa. i would really not like pepe reina to be in his position. but i hate mourinho for always using our name and our players to make a point.

Wish it had happened to Mourinho. Utter t*** and he should be reminded of Essien's challenge on Didi which was intentional and could have been a career ending challenge.

And do your tie up, you fackwit. Who do you think you are, Roy Keane ?

All the best for Cech, though. One of the few players i like at that club.
