Scally the Wag Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 "Proud Dad Post Warning" Kid swam well for his School Team and will now go up against a clutch of Michael Phelps clones next Friday in the big finals (50 Free, 200 IM & 4X50 Medley Relay)... One very proud dad in the stands (this time it was an Olympic standard indoor pool complex, so no hard concrete seats and relapses etc...). Given that he swims two or three times a day in order to meet the training requirements and has zilch time for studying in between, it was a matter of some satisfaction when I got home to find that he had been accepted onto a Pure Maths program at Uni (USTHK), starting this month. Don't know where this will lead, but as he destroyed the SAT (the College Board version which included the discursive essay) when he was 10, he will have a number of choices for sure and they won't start with Duke. And, in one of life's sweet ironies, he has been chosen to sing solo next month for his school, in French. Elliptical, hyperbolic? Nope, pure asymptotic this time. If I occupy rather more ego-space than usual today, accept my apology... Parents at least might understand the feelings released.
