Guest RedDwarf Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 McManaman over Callaghan???? You are both having a laugh Know your right wingers sonny!!!!
Poolfrog Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Tommy Smith one of your top 3 central midfielders ever? Tommy Smith was a world class centre back and infinitely superior to any centre-back in the current squad. He had the misfortune to be a peer of Bobby Moore who, although an inferior player, was the media darling of the time and played for a London club, so Smith hardly got a look in at England level. Anyone who saw them both play in those days would agree. People rave about Carragher on here and, good lad though he is, Smith was 10 times the player. He had a fantastic skilful touch on the ball, was good in the air, could pass like a midfielder, had great vision and when he tackled you, you stayed tackled!

melia Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 (edited) I'm flabbergasted people are opting for Jerzy Only two people have opted for Jerzy in their top 3 goalkeepers. Andy and myself. I did state that my selection was restricted to keepers I have seen live. Given my match attending days spread from the late 70's to recent times (and only a couple of games in the past few years), tell me who you'd slot in ahead of Clem, Brucie and Dudek. Reina may eventually get there. James wouldn't displace any of them. Neither would Hooper, Stensgaard, Ogrizovitch, Boulder, Friedel or Warner. Am I missing anyone? How's your flabber now? Still gasted? [edit] Yup, I missed Westerveld. Says it all really[/edit] Edited October 10, 2006 by melia
Spoone Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Aye. Mine are; Goalkeeper: Ray Clemence, Elisha Scott, Jersey Dudek You must have some years behind you if you're able to watch and critically compare those three! Or did you buy the 1934 season review on HDVD or BlueRay?

melia Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 You missed out the Flying Pig -- Tommy Lawrence He may have been included if he'd played during the late 70's to present. As he stopped in the early seventies, I didn't see him so I couldn't include him. My dad, on the other hand, watched him many times and loved him (he still preferred Clem though).
Guest RedDwarf Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 (edited) He may have been included if he'd played during the late 70's to present. Shoite, sorry la I missed that bit. Tommy was a good keeper. Having said that, with Ron Yeats in front of him, we could've had Arthur Askey in goal Edited October 10, 2006 by RedDwarf
