I just watched highlights of this game and I am absolutely astonished at how terrible the quality of play it. I'm totally flabbergasted.

 

In all seriousness, my club's girls U-16 team would give either of those teams a real run for their money. I have a girl on my U-14 team who would have no problem playing with that lot.

 

Is womens football in the UK that bad?

Women's football in the UK is nowhere near as popular or as widespread an activity as it is in the US. But then luckily we've never had anyone called 'Brandy Chastaine' either - a reall runner for a poor quality porn star name if ever there was one.

Why is it they always seem to pick little women as keepers? Practically every shot seems to fly in over the keeper's head!

 

They need someone like Amelie Mauresmo in goal...

I've seen a few internationals and I'd say women are getting better at footy - it'll take time - but good on em and best of luck to em.

 

Would be nice to think that one day you'd get amazing players good enough to play in professional football

Oh I agree completely. And if that happens I'll be very pleased to see it - especially if they drop the yellow card for taking your shirt off in goal celebrations

Oh so right. I think that ½ the footy pitches already in use should be changed in size. Lets make them smaller for women. That would be so much easier than trying to find space for new pitches for them.

when i played intramural coed footie in college, every goal scored by a girl counted for 2 points. Needless to say we instructed the women to stand as close to the goal as possible and tried to ricochet the ball off them into the goal.........
