Is there any law about when you should blow the whistle to end a half/the game?

If a player is through in a 1-on-1 with the Goalkeeper, is it fair enough to blow the whistle to end the game say 1 second before the attacker is about to get a shot in?

I remember the controversy Clive Thomas caused in the World Cup when he blew as the ball was in the air on the way in from a Brazil corner - wonder if there is any law/guiadance these days ???

Time is up when time is up regardless of where the ball is.

However, a little bit of common sense is needed. You wont find many referees blowing for time if there is a one on one.

what Kev said. Usually refs wait until the ball's 'neutral' often after a keeper's kicked it - middle of the pitch, in the air etc.

We've had the refs blow a few times moments after we've had corners awarded. Feckin infuriates me

Well i think there is no rule

at least funny thing, i was a linesman in a 15/16 year old game last summer and a player was one on one with the goalkeeper. When he is nearly there the ref blows for full time. The player gets mad and kicks the ball in the goal, scores and shouts at the ref. He gets a red card for that. Harsh? It was 30 secs over injury time
