This is 'the Research oscars' in a way, and the award is given as described for Awards for the most pointless bit of research undertaken in proper peer-reviewed conditions and with actual bona-fide funding.

 

A recent winner was 'Behavioural Anomalies in Homosexual, Necrophiliac Mallard Ducks' I kid you not.
