Leo No.8 Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 ...and it will be done with a lower total of points than in recent years. The knee-jerking around here is ridiculous, I fancy us to click and go on a run of 10-12 wins on the run soon. Part of the reason for this is I think everything is far from rosy in the gardens on our main rivals. United lack strength in depth and I think their winning start may prove to be a bit of a false dawn. Chelsea have been unsettled by the big names coming in and don't look as strong as they have done over the past two seasons. Yes they've had better starts but we've been to most of our bogey grounds already and I think we can catch them. You may call me ridiculously optimistic, quite frankly I don't give a f*ck. Seeing how much outrageous knee-jerking has been going on since Saturday only makes me feel more strongly this will prove right. Who's with me?

_00_deathscar Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Come the end of the season, we'll all be saying how cheeky Rafa was being just giving the others a head start
Bootle Buck Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I'd be more concerned that the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal who have not really had stellar starts will go on long unbeaten runs.
Tyler Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I think we are trying to play a more expansive game and have not yet found the balance (Rafa's two months comments to me point to this) Last year the buzzword was zonal defence and this year it is rotation am confident we will come good but I think we may lack consistency needed to win the league
Coyler Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 We'll never win it again and will be relegated by 2011.
meepins Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I am. But then I'm deluded.I called the league and european double and am sticking with it. Happy to be aboard the deluded bandwagon.

Stevie H Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 chelsea are top of the table and shevchenko hasn't even started playing yet. but he will.
Eskimo Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 You can count me in...and I agree about that the points tally will be lower than the two previous seasons..
Coyler Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 There's still the possibility that Chelsea will continue to win the league until Arsenal pass us out, and that last year was our real chance and we'll never win it again.
McBain Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 The opinion of a fan of the club will always be unavoidably biased. I know plenty of lfc fans who think we can win. I dont know any fans of any other clubs that do. People who only support lower league teams and look at the prem without prejudice We're not consistent enough. And we've forgotten how to win ugly
Cobs Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 chelsea are top of the table and shevchenko hasn't even started playing yet. but he will.come on Stevie, you can mocker the feckers better than that
DanielS Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 chelsea are top of the table and shevchenko hasn't even started playing yet. but he will. Who are top of the league? Shevchenko needs service. As long as Lampard-shoots-wide is fit Shevchenko will be the second richest spectator at Stamford Bridge.
Puskas Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I always thought we were going to have a slow start this season (too many new faces), and a glance at the fixtures shows all our difficult away games in the first third of the season. If we are around 8 points off the top (or less) at Christmas I think we will mount a very strong challenge for the title.

Sion Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I admire the optimism, but I can't see past 3rd place at the moment. We need 4 points at least from our next 2 away games, and maximum home points in that time for me to change my mind.
