Guest Unclebob Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Does anyone else share my opinion? I think Finnan is way below the standard required. His crossing and general distribution are woeful, he struggles in the air and is caught out of position frequently. Befroe people start telling me that form is temporary and class is pemanent this lad never had any class. He flattered to decieve last term and it worries me that we have no cover for his position. Between him and Pennant, Liverpool's right flank is as poor as it has been for many years.

Guest Unclebob Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 (edited) I dont get it. I just dont see why he (Finnan) gets so much support. He's not up to the job. Edited October 2, 2006 by Unclebob
Rimbeux Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Does this deserve the oxygen of reply? That's rhetorical
CarraLegend Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I dont it. I just dont see why he (Finnan) gets so much support. He's not up to the job. If you'd of put he's had a bit of a shakey start to the seaon i'd of agreed but your post is a pile of dogs**** not even worthy of proper discussion.
_00_deathscar Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Oh dear... Why do these people only appear when 'in crisis'?

It's an opinion. I just dont rate him, so much of our play breaks down with his involvement. At least you agree he's not started the season well. Presumeably if we had someone else to bring in you'd have dropped or rested him by now.

Coyler Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I hear Finnan has a Cockney accent. Apart from that he's grand. Relax, Unclebob, and maybe look at the season reviews for the last two years.
Guest Unclebob Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Oh dear... Why do these people only appear when 'in crisis'? I havent suggested any crisis. No need to over hype my post. I'd just like to see us move for a right full back at least in January.
Coyler Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 No need to over hype my post."way below standard ... woeful ... never had any class" Measured comments on the league's best right back of recent times.
Guest Kaizer Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Finnan is a bit overrated the way I see it, but he is more than decent and we dont have any other options. He has been at fault for some goals this season and he had an awful match against Bolton, but I dont think we have a problem because Finnan will be more than good enough to do the job this season even if personally I think we could have done better and the RB position is the next position we should try to improve on.

Relax, Unclebob, and maybe look at the season reviews for the last two years. I cant argue that he hasn't been consistent in spells but you shouldn't overlook the fact that right full back and the right flank in general is an area that Benitez has tried in vein to strengthen year in year out. I'm not convinced he has any great love for Steve Finnan either.
Cooldude Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 He has been at fault for some goals this season Could you please point these goals out?
Coyler Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Who are you recommending we buy that is an improvement on Finnan? Ah right, I get you now.
Guest Unclebob Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 "way below standard ... woeful ... never had any class" Measured comments on the league's best right back of recent times. Still no mention of a crisis though. It's an opinion on a player to which i'm entitled. Who are you recommending we buy that is an improvement on Finnan? Ah right, I get you now. Looks like your losing this one.
Tones Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Sorry cant agree with you at all. Finnan is a solid defender. As a unit, we are not playing well at the minute. Dont see why Finnan gets the blame for this.
Stevie H Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 there isn't a better right-back in the league.

Dont see why Finnan gets the blame for this. I'm not blaming him for our lack of consistent form at present. I'm just saying that i'd like to see some competiton in his position. He was poor before Benitez came in and intially dropped him for Josemi. That seemed to give him a bit of a kick up the a***. Perhaps he needs another.
Coyler Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Still no mention of a crisis though. It's an opinion on a player to which i'm entitled.Of course. He never said you suggested a crisis. I believe he meant that your bizarre views on Finnan -- to which you are entitled -- are redolent of the panic posts that one encounters on the forum during a 'crisis' (in this case, WWWL). You can fire away on any player you like but if you go after Finnan like he's some kind of below-average chancer you're going to get shot down.
Cooldude Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 This season he's the only defender who's performing up to his usual standards And at times being left to cover up the centre backs' woeful mistakes
Guest Unclebob Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 there isn't a better right-back in the league. Are you sure? Ok I'll be brave enough to say it but that tw*t up the M62 is a better player. I dont need to mention his name but the fact is he's a better full back than Finnan by a long way imo.
Cunny Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 there is no problem with Finnan - I don't share the opinion of many on this forum that he's world class and the best in the premiership but he's a fine player.
