Didier Zokora

Didier Zakora won a penalty for Spurs today with the most blatant dive you will ever see. There was no contact whatsoever.

As Spurs won the match 2-1, Zokora's dive was worth 2 points to them. Although manager Martin Jol has publicly admitted that it was a dive, I don't suppose he is really that regretful about it.

If Zokora had punched or elbowed a player, and the referee had not seen it, Zokora would get a lengthy ban from the FA on the strength of video evidence.

What will be Zokora's punishment for winning a match by cheating? Will the FA review the video evidence and hand down a lengthy suspension?

My guess is that he will get away with it, which is a crime against football.

He's not. 'Ace players' really don't need to do that sort of thing.

They do though (sadly). The prosecution would like to call Mr Thierry Henry to the stand M'lud....

And Patrick Viera, did exactly the same thing on didi in the 2-1 at anfield (i think)

Players will only stop diving when retrospective evidence is used to punish them severely, until then it will go on and on to the chagrin of every supporter the world over.

I can only assume football's governing bodies approve of cheating at the moment, as they don't seem interested in stopping it when it would be so easy to do. They might as well go the whole way and publically endorse diving, because that is basically what they are doing without actually putting it into words.

Three match ban if video evidence proves beyond doubt that a player dived to win a free kick or penno.

That's all it takes. It'll make the cheating tw*ts think twice before doing it. Oh, and Ronaldo will become an 'average' footballer once more, and Robben will be unemployable.
