Is it me, or does it hit his shin?

I agree there was something not quite right about the way van Persie volleyed the goal. It may have been genius, but it may have been a total fluke. I don't suppose the Gooners are too worried either way.

I thought it was just me who thought that, kept rrying to get a better look to convince myself he hit it with his foot but by what I have seen it still looks like shin.

Great goal though

 I saw your thread title and the first word that came to my mind was "shinner". Good finish nonetheless though. It'll be Ronnie Whelans goal of the season for sure.

I actually don't think Crouch's scissor-kick in midweek came off his boot either.

I think it was struck with his lower shin / front of his ankle, but the execution was so good it went straight in anyway and no-one seemed to notice.

Both great goals regardless, but I'd agree both 'shinners'...

Still haven't seen the Crouch or Van Persie one.

Greatest "shinner" of all time though, Gareth Farrelly against Coventry to keep us up, oh you crazy greased hair gypo, cult status for just that.

The way they went on about it I thought he'd volleyed a Van Basten-esque goal from 30/40 yards out.

It was a good goal it wasn't a great goal, one of those where the cross is so good with enough pace on it that you don't need to hit it with any great force and it flies.

The fact that he was giving it the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon levitation made it special. Volley from outside the box from a twenty-yard cross, shoulder-height?

It was animal.
